This Monolith subwoofer amplifier has an extraordinarily high power output of 500 watts RMS (900 watts peak), which can deliver massive amounts of power when needed. Each Class D amplifier is built around a Texas Instruments 48-bit data path (with 28-bit filter coefficients) DSP engine, allowing virtually unlimited design flexibility with the assurance of no signal degradation.

My wife didn't like me buying the ported 10 inch...I wonder if she would notice a sealed 15 inch in its place?
That's what she said

this might help you decide.I own a klipsch 115SW and bought an SVS sealed SB4000 I returned the SVS. My Klipsch outperformed SVS even cranked all the way up. Ended paired my klipsch with a monolith 12 ported instead. The output on the monolith is a little more than my klipsch but they complement my room, go ported for better punch. I added to my theater with 10 klipsch behind my seat and its all good. I'm waiting on the 15 ported to go on sale. will use it a lamp table or to place drinks next to my recliner.
I have the SPL 150 which i believe is the refresh from the 115sw, and it sounds great for only a " 400 watt amp ". I am debating getting another spl 150 for about 550$ at frys or get the sealed monolith 15 for 789.. The ported 15'' monolith sounds more than what i could use for future use but i dont want to pay full msrp.

I have one PB 16. It's paired to two JBL 708p, which can go quite viciously loud. The PB16 is set to -25db, which is a little high because I wanted Dirac to have headroom to play with. I can shake the room. No, I can quake the room with one PB16. About 4200 cubic feet and open on one end.

Room size? And define "theater room" - is it just a standard bedroom or family room that has been allocated theater duty? Standard rooms may get by with a couple 12 or 15insubs without issue. Dedicated/designed/constructed room, you may want 4, 8, 10, or even 20+ subs in the 15-24" range...

Sealed itself matters less than the size of the cabinet. Sadly, most sealed subs also have smaller enclosures, so that's not doing them any good. My two 18" sealed subs don't need to push past 100W in a 8,000 cubic foot room to have plenty of output (down to 6Hz even), but they each have a Crown amp that can feed each 2000W if I ever wired up 240V and raised the highpass filter. I haven't seen the need yet, especially with the wall, window, fixture noise.

Hoping our next house in the distant future will have an infinite baffle setup - I love IB and some sealed far more than ported or bandpassed subs. The low end extension from 28 square feet of cone area would be amazing, and efficient! IB is just a giant sealed cabinet.
12' x 18' x 8', single purpose dedicated theater room. No windows or openings and only 1 door that leads into the rest of the basement.

The room was finished as a theater room with riser platform and it's own 20 amp circuit. Not a repurposed bedroom or living room.

I'm so tempted by this but will have to pass ... I have a Rythmik L12 and anything more powerful will annoy my downstairs apt. Great deal tho!

Love Rythmik got an E15HP and considering adding another Smilie I had my doubts about a sealed sub for HT but they dig pretty deep and I'm loving it.

Any head to head comparison with the Monoprice M15-S? I was down to the M15-S vs. the F15HP/E15HP2 but the monoprice sale put me over the top. Can literally just about buy 2x of the Monoprice for the same price as 1x Rythmik with this sale... I know I know, monoprice isn't direct servo =P

Sadly no. I usually go on data-bass.com and try to find some measurements. Monolith is a solid brand I don't think you can go wrong. You can't go by wattage alone because the drivers can have a different sensitivity.

My reason for choosing Rythmik was that they are local in Austin, TX. So I basically just drove up and got a discount minus shipping. Otherwise I was looking at HSU and SVS. SVS having free return and shipping worked into the price so it's a good way to audition subwoofers and they often have good sales. Subs are expensive to ship back so that might influence your decision.

Agreed, one of the biggest selling points of a sealed sub vs a ported sub is the size. Yet in the monoprice line the sealed subs are only a little bit smaller than the ported ones. And none are in the nice small cube size. Then again, they actually have THX ultra certification on a sealed sub which is pretty much unheard of... To get that much output out of a sealed design is truly an achievement (and of course the larger cabinet size is part of that equation).
That's true placement is crucial and the smaller footprint gives you more flexibility for that. Can a sealed sub give you good low bass, of course but it will cost you.
Much depends what you're after out of your sub, sealed gives you a tight, detailed, articulated low bass in a smaller footprint.

For me I'm not worried about rattling the windows or disturbing the neighbors. I'm not even concerned about the "whole" room, just my seating area. I don't watch a movie standing up or anywhere else but in the seat.
You give me a good sub and I will make it sound very good where you sit, now the whole room is a different story but every layout and person are completely different.

The ideal spot is rare so we compromise and make it work the best we can.
I can't tell how many times I've found the best spot and for whatever reason(often aesthetics) they don't want it there so have to place it where they want it rather than the best placement within that room and make it work the best I can.
So many times with the average person these specs don't even come into play.

I haven't had a chance to play around with a Monolith sealed sub and very interested to know if the 12" could perform somewhere near as good as the SB-3000.
I have to go with the specs since I haven't listened to either.

Of what I have read the 3000 sounds like it's a great performer with a small footprint.
I have a PB-12 now that does pretty good but that smaller footprint will get me to the better placement I'm after.

This 12" looks like it might work and for almost half the price I'm wondering how it would do.
I know the best thing to do is buy both but I'm not dissatisfied with the PB-12 enough to do that especially with a sub.
I'm hoping someone I know is interested in one so I can borrow it Smilie.

Anyone have experience between these those two?

Don't buy yet, it's normal for sealed to sell for less than ported. Fair price is $400.

Thanks, I have the 115SW, and always curious to see how it compares to others. Interesting the 12inch Monoprice outperforms the 15inch Klipsch

Does anyone have experience with this Monolith M12-S vs an SVS SB3000?
I am looking for a small box, sealed, and to fill a 12x14 room.

This deal is a bit misleading - showing the original price as $1300. That's not for this model - that's for the 15in model. The original price for this one was $800. Still a good deal - but no reason to misrep it. @slcikdeals

Yep, I was so disappointed in SVS The SB4000 weighted so much I had to bring it down a flight of stairs by myself. Then when I played audio, it sound it like nothing was there. I was like W00T!! the klipsch was louder even with the SVS all cranked in the settings. Got my $1500 back and opted for a 12 monolith ported.
