Most of LG's lower-end TV's are IPS panels but this is a VA panel. Picture quality wise it's pretty average to below average across the board. This is really for people who care most for size above any other quality of a TV.

I spent months researching HDTVs in the 70-80 inch range, and pulled the trigger on this one at $1250 through the buydig/google shopping deal a few months back. I am very happy I did.
It has native 120 refresh, and you can easily adjust picture modes for movies (to remove the "soap opera effect" which I cannot stand), sports, and video games. It is edge lit, so no local dimming, which I worried about for such a large screen, but I have not noticed any detraction when watching. Sure, this is not a OLED with blacks as black as a black hole, but its thousands of dollars less.
Size is a pretty important factor in the viewing experience in my opinion, and it checks that box for sure. Its also checks a few other critical boxes as well, and I think this is a good value at this price point.
Got it. Appreciate the response. Still a good price, so I pulled the trigger. Especially with the 150 gift card which I believe I can use to get a soundbar system with .
