I don't know if ordering online and choosing "Get new number from AT&T" will get you SIMs with temporary numbers so you can port in later. AT&T might ship them with permanent numbers and there goes your chance to get the GCs.

If you can indeed order SIMs with temp numbers and port in later, that will be the way to ensure that the order will be shipped, and not running the risk of getting the order cancelled due to problems with porting (as you speculated).
Ok. I can confirm this route also works.

So order online, get new att number (do not provide porting info) and after you receive sim, insert it into phone and follows instructions in Red paragraph

"Start transferring your number

There are 2 ways to transfer a number to us:
1)Activate a new line with a number you're transferring from another carrier.
2)Replace your current AT&T number with one you're transferring from another carrier.

If you're replacing your AT&T number with
one from another carrier, follow these steps:
Go to account overview, and open the My wireless section.
Scroll to My devices & add-ons and choose the device you want to transfer a number to.
Select Manage my device.
Under See device options, select See more device options."

Or calling porting department(number in wiki) if you think that is complex for the method above, give them your temp ATT number so they can locate your account info, give them the porting info, first line done, move to second temp ATT number and repeat until all lines are transferred. Rep will let you know if the port goes through or need changes in second

I don't have Verizon service, so can't tell you for sure. Contact a VZW rep and ask, or search the Internet for "Verizon $250 chargeback" and read the results.

AT&T must have just loaded the new phone numbers but not activated and we will have to perform that step. Until, this online Activation was not performed, the Porting was not completed.
As I replied in another post, "ported in" sort of puts your phone number in a "twightlight zone". The phone number is technically assigned to the new carrier, but the cell service still works on the old carrier until you actually activate the SIM on the new carrier. It is set up that way (pretty much on all carriers) so you can still have cell service on the old carrier while the new SIM is being shipped to you.

att.com/port showed status confirmed
After this step, the att.com/port showed status as Complete.
But some ppl claiming their port is expect to complete DATE Time. But porting status depends on where your are porting from ans the att rep who setting up everything with NPAC to connect all your calls/text on ATT network.

Glad it works out for u. You are the first person reported here that you have starting att service

I'm so annoyed.

I went to the store since my order cancelled of course and set up a post paid line.

Went home, set up online account. Proceeded to add 5 BYOD lines and start to checkout. After the credit part (Which I didn't have to type my social again) I checked out, and verification screen popped up. This sends a text to my newly established number. No problem, right??

Wrong.

Every verification code that's sent DOESN'T WORK. i looked on google and this is a wide spread issue with no apparent fix. After doing it enough times I get the uh oh with the phone number: 8669268262 which is a credit line that of course is closed.

How god damn annoying.
Any update?

No. it did not work out. When I inserted the SIM, the phone got rebranded and ATT apps got installed
Later it showed a message - "Sim Not Provisioned MM2".
I went back to the Step 2
Option 2
If you're transferring your number from another provider, or activating a new or replacement device, please go to the AT&T Phone Activation site and all the numbers were activated.

After this activation step, then when I turned on the Phone, everything started working.
Within seconds, I got an SMS that PORT IN Complete. Your phone is ready to receive calls.
In Option 2 did you select "AT&T wireless device" and followed next steps?

thanks. my 1st order got cancelled the other day so i'm just worried it's going down the same path.

My 2nd reorder got cancelled as well. I called back in and they said I need to go in store and bring 2 forms of ID. Not sure what the heck is flagging it.

yes, it activated all my lines and then when you turn ON the device, it works fine.
You can enter any one number, Billing Zip code and it will list out all the numbers to activate.

Second order got cancelled after 5 hours. The order status never made it past "We're working on your order", and the /port page showed that the ports were never even initiated. I'm using T-Mobile numbers from an eBay seller who I know is reliable, so I'm pretty sure the account/PIN numbers are correct.

I called order verification twice before getting the cancellation email, and both reps said there was nothing for them to do.

Has anyone tried going the in-store route? I'm worried about the supposed 14-day waiting period before you can open additional lines online.

Thumbs up to the OP. Been wanting to switch from my current XFINITY mobile account for a while since I shifted to a place where XFINITY doesnt provide any service. This offer looked attractive, so went ahead and submitted the order yesterday for port of my current phone number (in the long run I have to see if sticking to post paid is beneficial or may switch to a prepaid). Didnt see any issues with credit check but there was a problem in the number port. Apparently after I shifted my residence XFINITY never updated their service address. I do remember calling them and providing the new address (and to cancel the service, etc) but looks like they only updated the billing address and never updated the service address. XFINITY combines their service address for cable/Internet and mobile. Naturally the number porting didnt go through. I checked the status this afternoon and talked to XFINITY mobile chat rep. XFINITY chat rep suggested me to resubmit the port request with the old address itself (they couldnt update the address because the cable service at the old place no longer exists!!). However ATT number port site just asked to resubmit the correct zipcode. I resubmitted the old zipcode and the status now says the number port is confirmed. I havent yet received the order/shipping confirmation. Order status says "In progress". I dont think I can create an account online, can I? I believe I should get an email with password details, etc once everything goes through?
