I have done slabs using over 200 bags of 60lb concrete as the 60s are easier for me to handle. I have had good success in doing my project in fourths and using expansion joints in between the sections.
Not that hard doing 50 bags in a 3 or 4 hours with a small mixer.
Yep. It's a lot of work but doable, even by yourself.
If you ever get a pool, the vacuum is a great buy.

hah, i had another underwater vacuum already, but got tired of forgetting to charge it or leaving it out in the rain - not to mention it would go bad every 2 yrs
so i finally bought the underwater one from direct outlet at end of last year
opening saturday, so ill get my first use of it soon!!
excited b/c i have so many batteries, ill never need to worry about it not being charged or dying.
I honestly thought ionizer was joking about an underwater vacuum. Then Quinn1976 posted about it and I'll be damned if they don't make one.
It's basically an underwater dustbuster. What has this world come to??
Just poured a 12x16 slab a month ago. My dude, you need 7 cubic yards of concrete. It took over 70 wheel barrow trips from the mixer truck, to pour site.
WOW.....that's a lot of concrete for a 12x16 slab. That's only 192 sq feet meaning that your slab is probably a little over 8" thick. I just poured a 4" slab for a driveway that was 207 sq feet and it only took a little under 3 yards and that is enough for a vehicle to drive on.......5"-6" is enough for a heavy duty vehicle to park on.

3-4 hours straight of mixing concrete to save a few dollars at most (when factoring in the cost of this mixer).
Just to point out: the going rate near me is around $30/day to rent something similar.
The Question is will you get 4 days of use out of it. I take the fifth day out of it to compensate for the pain-in-da-azz part of going back and forth to the rental place and me having to take my camper shell off most likely.
Also, are you more likely to get projects done with this lying on the side of the house? I
One thing to consider when doing a "bag job" is that the color and texture may vary based on batch. If you opt for delivery, you at least get a consistent product, but have to work fast!
I'm sure there're those that need it, but I hope I never need to mix enough concrete over a long enough time to justify owning this.
Yeah usually it you're pouring more than reasonable to mix in a wheelbarrow it's worth bringing in a truck. I guess if you're a handyman doing small sidewalks here and there this might be nice, but probably for most it's better to rent one.
Timing could not have been more perfect. Im repointing the brick on my house and have very quickly realized I need one of these. Probably just going to try to sell it when im finished.
