That is fraud. Best case is it's extremely unethical and will only cause HD to get even more strict and make it more difficult for regular people to return stuff. Please don't try this.
Essentially, yes. The last few times the battery starter kit has been the 3.0ah HP batteries vs these regular 4.0ah batteries. But, these 4.0ah are at least the higher end p197 batteries vs the older p108. Better internals/cells.
Yes, you can do this with just a circular saw and a drill. Few tips:
- Make sure you pre-drill your holes or else your wood will split when you put in your screws
- Cedar pickets are affordable and they're naturally good for outdoor applications

Why most of people are returning the 4.0Ah batteries? Not a good battery? or already owned enough batteries? I need the High capacity battery too, so really would like ask!
it's because they have had some similar deals and not everyone needs a ton of batteries. I just do some home projects, and can get by just fine with 2-3 batteries even on a busy day. but i certainly want more than a few of the tools, so this sale allows you get the tool at a lower rate by purchasing and then returning/cancelling the battery. if they just offered the tools on sale on their own, you wouldn't see so much action about the batteries on here.
And the 4ah is a good mid sized battery. Big enough to run a circular or reciprocating saw for a while or various other tools. It isnt a "HP" battery, which adds additional power to the Brushless model tools, so that may or may not be relevant to you. The 4ah is a bit overkill if you are just going to use a drill or flashlight for a few minutes, but its also not too big to ruin the user experience by any means. For a casual homeowner, i feel it is a great option, especially when you are getting two and a charger for $55 when combined with some of the tools here

Current battery setup are two of the 4ah batteries. Since this sale I have purchased five more of the 4ah batteries and two of the 3ah HP+ batteries.
That is a total of seven 4ah battereis and two 3ah HP+ batteries (along with a few other smaller 2ah ones).

Wow. Thank you so much for all details. Since I only have two old batteries, this is good chance add more batteries and some tools.
How annoying, got and opened the fan yesterday and now the price is lower. I cancelled the batteries. Would have saved near $10
Feel your pain ... I want this fan but I did research & this used to cost $40 or less years ago ... yesterday I wait for the sale start & ordered it just passed midnight to get the sale price. This is my second one, You will love it.

Yeah, I don't need any more batteries.
If it makes you feel any better, based on prorated difference, you would only save $4 and change.

New cost would be $25.xx+tax. More like 7-8ish dollars but its certainly not worth packaging up, driving down there and such
