holy-moly!!!
No one expected R263 will be ever in-stock. There were out of stock for year or two.
Immediately bought a pair along with R12 sub. Now I have a whole Infinity setup:
R263+R263+RC263+R162+R162+R12. What a lucky day!
So, This is what I have ended up with now that I bought the R263s for my 7.2.4 Atmos Setup:
Front - 2x Infinity R263
Surrounds and Surround back - 4x Infinity R162
Center - Infinity RC263
Atmos Heights - 4x Polk OWM3
Subwoofer - 2x DIY Dayton Ultimax UM-15s
Now I'm wondering whether I should just complete to setup and replace the 4x Polk OWM3 w/ Infinity RS152s to have the same System all around? Does anyone have or use the RS152? Any feedback on those? Or specifically using 4 of the RS152s for the Atmos Height Speakers (ceiling mounted) for the 7.2.4 setup?
I got the rs152 and they are amazing, they really made my system have depth. I have a 7.2. Setup right now gonna do 7.2.4 soon as I find the right ceiling speakers I wonder if these would do well up there? Also I like them more than the larger bookshelf speakers
Or wait for the people who got 3 of the RC 263 to try as LCR to grab the R263's and be willing to offload their new RC263's at what they paid for them. Anyone in Colorado need an RC263? I may just have two available lol.
I thought of doing the same thing, but I'm glad I didn't now. I pulled the trigger on a pair of R263s. Although, I had ordered a second pair of R162s last month. I'll have to research if I should mount those to start my atmos height speakers or go directly with in-ceiling.

That's what I'm wondering... Is the sound somewhat directional on these or kinda dispersed? Also, These are 11lbs compared to the Polk OWM3s I have that are only 4lbs so I'd have to get better mounts to support them.
I get people like these speakers, as many people point out these are "entry level" speakers which they are.
Keep in mind that speakers produce the sound you hear so in general the better the "quality" speakers the better the sound.
So in my experience putting most of your budget into the speakers will give you better "quality" sound.
Slightly disagree: The Pioneer and Elac designed by AJ are entry grade, followed by UB5 and KEF Q100. These Infinity speakers are a step above those. Many speakers look great and cost more (Klipsch, JBL) but they can't touch R162 and R263 in sound.
I personally cannot stand Klipsch, even their RP line -- ear bleed. Polkaudio ghetto fugly, bad manufacturing can't even put stickers straight.
But it's true, most money should go to speakers. AMPs reach diminishing return fast. The extra $1000 spent on a better AMP generally cannot achieve the return spent on speakers. I started with B&W 6 series and have had many speakers over the years.
Note: got a thumb down within a minute. Someone got triggered fast. lol
I have heard that if your couch is largely against the wall you should only do 5 channel and use side surrounds. Wondered if these would be worth a flyer but don't hear these talked about too much. How good are they?
With the seating against the back wall the RS's may not be a good choice because of the design.
The adjoining wall may be to close and not ideal.
Unfortunately that layout limits you to very few ideal options.
You could do front height speakers, keep in mind that's considered an alternative and not ideal.
With Atmos(object based codec) out now many believe its the best quality but technically there are different levels of quality with it.
A reference 5.1 setup can easily compete with entry level "Atmos" setup and in some cases be better.
Ideally you should have a reference 5.1 setup before going to object based soundtracks.
I would suggest concentrating on a good 5.1 and see how that turns out.
I would point out those RS's are not ideal or preferred for object based soundtracks

I have a cheap sub... is it important for the subwoofer to match, or are other subwoofer deals better than the r12 for $180, here?
Thanks
