There has not been a single study that has established a definitive link between HCA and PAH exposure from cooked meats and cancer in humans. If anything the only animal studies that have resulted in higher cancer percentage have involved a dose that is THOUSANDS of times above what a person would consume in a normal diet.
That being said even if the risk was there, it is diminished by cooking the meat before at a low temperature and just searing the meat at the end. I personally cook my meat medium rare to rare but I also do a nice sear.
This is the exact model i use to broil my chicken after i sous vide, this thing is awesome and has done it's job loyally for almost 3 years now, Definitely recommend.

What sort of coating do they use on the inside? I'm pretty sensitive to the non-stick stuff and if i plan on using this long term I want to make sure i won't have an issue.
Let me know what you find. I can't seem to find a 2 shelf air fryer without non stick things. Why can't stuff just be stainless!

Think I've had mine for about 7 years now and it still works just fine. My only complaint is that the back seems to cook a bit darker than the front. So I usually have to rotate pizza when I cook it in here.
Wonder if there is anything better to replace this model.

I've got this at home but I'm not sure how to tell if it's nonstick or just black paint. This thing is so old and use even if it was non-stick I'm not sure if it would function that way. Most the walls on the inside are black and the stuff the food comes in contact with is all stainless.

You don't want to broil your meats at high temperatures. Very unhealthy and toxic.

We show that PhIP can stimulate cell proliferation and, again, this was dependent upon a functional ER. Using ligand blotting, we further show that PhIP can stimulate the expression of progesterone receptor (PR-A and PR-B) and c-MYC and activate the MAPK signal transduction pathway. These responses were similar to that produced by oestradiol, in terms of temporal aspects, potency and a requirement for a functional ER. Each of these dose-dependent mitogenic responses occurred at concentrations of PhIP ( approximately 10(-9)-10(-11)M) that are likely to be equivalent to systemic human exposure via consumption of cooked meat. Thus PhIP can induce cellular responses that encompass altered gene expression and mitogenesis. We suggest that the combination of genetic toxicology and oestrogen-like promotion of genomic and cellular events provide a mechanism for the tissue-specific tumorigenicity of this compound.
Marinate your meats in stout beer, season with pepper, accompany with plenty of fresh green vegetables and enjoy... cancer risk still there but these recommendations mitigate it
I had this, worked great for years. After many pushes on the Toast button eventually it cracked and peeled. This led us to replace it a couple weeks ago with a Cuisinart Air Fryer/Toaster Oven from Costco.
Even if this oven is an older model it is rock solid and replaced much of the use of our normal oven.

Because stainless bis expensive. Cheaper to use aluminum and coat it with poisons
