I was just at the local Costco and saw that the beef tenderloin filet mignon is $9.99/lb. One of the workers at the meat department said that he doesn't know why it is so cheap, but it's currently selling for that price (no coupons, special mark downs, etc.)

Not sure if it's the case today but Costco stated at one time all of their meats were blade tenderized EXCEPT for flank steaks and filets.

I stay away from blade tenderized meat. They say it's safe if you cook your steaks to well done but I'll pass

Should probably mention this is for Choice, although for tenderloin maybe this doesn't matter as much.

It's this price because it was in the email I got yesterday for their in house warehouse specials for 7/25 - 8/2.

I'll be picking this up soon, because this is a nice price for filet mignon.

Winn Dixie had Beef Tenderloin on sale last weekend for $6.99/lb. Probably not Costco quality but they were great. We cooked 1/2 of one today for lunch and have quite a bit left for sandwiches.
