3Gb per second but still on a 1Gb per second link. Marketing at it's best
The M9 is a tri-band router. The X60 is a dual band.

If you are using a wifi backhaul, get the M90.

If you are using a wired Ethernet backhaul, get the X60.
The X60 has a maximum backhaul of 3000Mbps vs the M9's 1500Mbps. Dual band on the X60 is a 2.4Ghz band and 5Ghz, the M9's have one 2.4Ghz and two 5Ghz bands.

Here's my experience so far from owning the m9 plus for a few weeks.

Setup: Two M9 Plus with wired backhaul, and 1 standalone wireless

WLAN Router -> M9 Plus (1) -> switch -> M9 Plus (2)
One standalone M9 Plus (3)

AC 2x2 client - Test by copying a large file from NAS to laptop (NAS is connected to switch)
M9 Plus (1) 55MB/s
M9 Plus (2) 38MB/s
M9 Plus (3) 23MB/s

Some of my observations:
1. No indication if wired backhaul is working (The website says "some" devices support the signal source indicator, but not the m9 plus). Based on the big drop in speed in router 2, it is likely not working.
2. Cannot change channel to a less crowded channel
3. Parental controls features are nice, easy to use and free
- Easily block certain categories of sites at the individual profile level (assign devices to profile)
- Screen time limit at profile level
- One click to pause internet for an individual
4. Despite having 3 routers instead of 1, the signal at my garage is now not usable. Used to work with 1 router with the 2.4 ghz signal. Coverage is good throughout the house though.

Can anyone tell me whether the transfer speed between nodes connected to each other are at wifi6 speeds or the wifi6 speeds are only between a single node and a wifi6 supported device?

Naa, pass. I'm not going to have the brain of my network phoning home to a traffic analytics mothership.

This can be a deal breaker but time will tell. I found that the channel 11 is unused in my neighbourhood. Right now I have AC68U running on that channel with no issue. Hopefully TP Link integrated something smart to analyze the wifi channels.

TP-LINK has two versions of the deco M9. The version 1 has more details in the app, it will tell you what is the signal source. The v2 of the deco which is what most retailer sell now for some reason does not have that ability in the app. Per their forum, they have been working on a software update for the v2 to have the same abilities as the v1. Hardware wise TP-LINK say v1 and v2 are the same.

Is anybody concerned with TP-Link privacy policy. They collect all the information from your devices / web traffic.... You have to install their app to be able to use the mesh system. ( I assume that Google does the same with their mesh units).
Should I be concerned and go for just a powerful router/two routers?

Is this for real? I better end up keeping my AC68U with merlin then.

I had a TP link AD7200 Talon. Had a number of issues and although it was in warranty they tried to replace it with a lessor model. They said they no long made Talons (6 months after buying it) and that this was their latest model, that was a weaker router. I would avoid TP link in the future.

They are all 3 individual wifi 6 routers as well as nodes that means you can use either one of them as your main router and others as connected nodes. They are very efficiently BACKWARD compatible so they also works great with older wifi5 /AC router and also with wifi 6 clients... This is as per my experience.

If you have the latest m9 firmware installed, the app will tell you what device is connected to which m9 unit [oops read next message, didnt know about v2 vs v1 m9 plus]

Also, ars technica expert claimed the m9 is a hub and spoke model for mesh and not unit to unit. But i cant confirm that in my setup as my main unit is in center of the location so every satellite connects to the main unit.

Oooh, wow I didn't know! That's crazy, v2 is less capable than v1???

Was not impressed with the Deco M9. They run quite hot. Like hot to the touch. Returned for the Nest Wifi. I would go with these before the M9.
