Mmmm... Pudding!

I thought I knew most stuff about mech keyboards (have been using them since the 1970s when all KBs were mechanical). But I guess I don't know about PBT or PTB (both names are in the post -- one must be a typo), and how pudding comes into the picture. Thought it does sound tasty. Anyway might get one of these if I can learn what a PBT is or at least what flavor of pudding.

EDIT OK I read the Amazon page details I think I understand the keycap thing and it's just a visual "coolness" thing, so OK but not essential I'd say. Meanwhile some of the neg reviews are concerning, including some details of keys not "feeling" right due to poor choices in design or manufacturing. The reason you get things like this is for the "feel" mostly, or at least I do. You want a consistent quality solid feel throughout. Normally I'll dismiss a few neg reviews but several seem to point to the same weakness, and since this is still close to a $100 KB I'll probably pass on this one, since I probably shouldn't have any puddin' anyway.

Basically think they are pointing out you could subtract $25 from price of the keyboard since it comes with $25 keycaps .

While this is my preferred keyboard. The PBT caps feel pretty plasticy IMO.

The original keycaps on this KB are way more premium feeling and feel better (to me).

All that being said, I use the PBT keycaps because I want the unicorn rainbow vomit as many places as I can regardless of how good it feels to type with the original keycaps.

The PBT keycaps look amazing with RGB.

A preferred combo is:
SteelSeries Apex Keyboard with PBT keycaps.

I was really excited to get this keyboard because i love the HyperX headset so have but the one and only problem i have with it is a dealbreaker. The switch on the space bar just doesn't work for me the way i type or something, on avg 50% of my strokes don't register. It's infuriating and not something I've experienced on any other keyboard. It seems i often hit too far off of center *shrug*

That said, the build quality felt nice.

Big HyperX keyboard fan here. I have the TKL and threw pudding caps on it. They're thin on the sides but the tops are sturdy and feel significantly more solid than the stock ABS keycaps. That said, u could get better keycaps, but these are pretty great for the price and a great thing to have from the get go on this kb. That said, I'd stay away from this one if it was micro usb, but for those who don't care, HyperX makes great kbs.

Could be fine I guess. Keyboard switches are all a preference thing. no one can really tell you if a particular switch is one that you personally will like, I can tell you that "most people" find the Cherry MX silver switches that come with this board have too light of an actuation for reliable typing. They are too sensitive for a lot of people and it causes errors in their typing. Again that's most people, Some people really like the light key presses.

If typing is your main concern then you can go with a more basic keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches. IKBC makes outstanding keyboards without bells and whistles, just high-quality switches and caps.

They're speed switches so there's a good chance they cause typos from the reduced travel distance and stuff. They're more for twitch reaction gaming.
