I saw the new ones were backordered into oblivion but didn't think to check refurb. Fwiw my rears are 162s and refurbished and they sound great (used to be my 2.0 speakers).

Looks like the others are on their rotational sale now, too. New, not refurbs.

I just can't bring myself to pay 179 for the RC263 refurb when I know it was less for brand new 2 months ago.

Irrational because it's still a very good price. Alas I will wait, perhaps forever.

I ended up returning my R263 towers from last sale, they are good speakers and accurate but the frequency response has a bit of an increase past 15k hz or so. I found it tiring to listen to for music. They are great for home theater though. For music I wanted speakers with a bit more rolled off highs / warmer.

I'd prefer to get it new, too, but I have a hole in the middle of my tv setup and having seen the quality of their refurbs, I'm 100% okay with this price.

Especially since the trend lately has been the sales becoming less sale-y each time.

Seeing how the prices for these Harmon speaker deals are trending up lately, they're so tight with the promo codes now and bumped the retail price back to $499, I wouldn't count on the RC263 being on sale new again for $160.

If you follow these Infinity threads, there are always someone saying they didn't realize just how big the center is. Wouldn't fit in the entertainment center, blocked the TV or couldn't pass the wife approval factor, so they had to return it.

Yeah, I had to adjust shelves and move separators around in console, rc263 is giant.

Its weird to me why JBL would make such a small center speaker to pair up with large towers and then have HK make a gigantic center console for smaller towers.

I picked up the refurb 2 weeks ago as a semi-panic buy seeing the new ones go on major backorder and third party sellers running out of stock as well. Aside from being in a box marked refurb the speaker looked brand new.

Hopefully can get a credit for the difference instead of having to return and rebuy.

I went all-in with this line at their end of last year sale. For reference the rc263 was $162 new and r162 was also $162 for a pair. Might be worth it to stay patient. Love the speakers, fwiw.

If space isn't an issue for the center channel - and currently I'm just using R152's for L/R fronts.

Would the RC253 be a good center with the L/R R152 fronts?

I bought an RC252 a few months back because I didn't have the room for an RC263. Now I'll be moving and will have room for an RC263. Is it worth the upgrade?
