Note: although it said you need to port in, I was able to checkout by getting a new #. So probably no need to port.

I learned from SD to get a Sim from ebay to port out from Sprint. I think it will serve the same purpose.
Go to eBay and search at&t phone port (2.49 + tax, I used empiremobi)
phone, account and pin numbers emailed to you

From other threads, there's something about this e6 that is different than others.

older $20 thread for information purposes

uhhh yeah? I think the $25 price point reflects that and no where was it mentioned that this was actually free free. You still have to trade in and also purchase 1 month of service

Anybody knows if an iPhone 3G will be accepted as a trade-in?

anyone can recommend some cheap $5 ebay phones that are usually used for deals like this?
As long as the phone comes up as "incompatible" it is good to use as swap. Last time I sent in a cracked Verizon 3G Blackberry Storm, Nokia Windows phone, a few android phones, and a handful of old Tracfone flip burner phones that only cost me $5 to begin from Dollar General etc. and I had used the minutes years ago. A few did not have the IMEI on back or a working battery to check on the phone.

Take it with a grain of salt, though, you can enter ANYTHING as the IMEI and if it can't find compatibility, it will say "incompatible" and eligible to swap. Last time people with old Vzw and sprint phones without IMEI's on them tried to do the "conversion" or shorten it to IMEI, which isn't correct, but think it worked anyways.

Got it. Tried to swap out an old Moto E 3G running android 4.4, but it wouldn't let me enter the IMEI (meid hex or meid dec). Must be too old to swap. Ended up swapping out an old Samsung Galaxy S5 that is a spare phone on the pageplus $10 every 90 days plan I use for emergencies. I'll still use the old phone for a nanny cam with the Alfred app. Works great. TY to OP & repped.

New number-I'll bite. No better way to get rid of a original Moto e. And hopefully 20 back from chase.

Have a cheap working refurb Android Tracfone to swap. But after doing the IMEI checker it won't let me order (your phone not compatible, which is obvious). I then tested the same steps entering a much older non-working phone's IMEI and was able to continue order process, which means my steps were correct. So question: should I go through with the order and send in the working phone even though the IMEI won't be the one I had entered at time of order?
I'm not sure they even check. . .but I would send in the non working one that the IMEI works and matches what you enter instead of the 1st one that you will have to fudge the IMEI.

you can add or remove some numbers until its valid. Long time ago I traded in an old sprint phone with letters and numbers in meid. I just replaced the letters with 0 and add more 0 at the end. No issue. But things might changed Smilie

Yes that's fine, they say not to send in the battery if it looks bloated. . .

I think it's because they didn't check. . . they were/are just trying to see if you phone is on their compatibility list. . .if you enter ANYTHING not on their list, it's good as far as being able to checkout anyways.

as you can enter "12345678901234" as the IMEI and it will take it.

If they do check now, your method won't work either as that isn't a real conversion. . .

Roll the dice, or don't, but it's worked in the past

Yes. If it it is not from Verizon, you are good to swap. Check with IMEI check and it should say incompatible.

They will charge you later for full price if you don't port in. I read it in other thread for "free ZTE blade A3"

Looked at last half of that thread, did not find this information. Do you have a link?

It games me the option to select a new number and did not mention any other terms. Even let me keep retrying until I got a cool one.
