Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. After going to look at both in person, I noticed the 900h viewing angles are not nearly as bad as people have made it out to be.
Sorry in advance for the long winded response, but viewing angles truly aren't that big of a deal. I did a bunch of window shopping last year because I was on the fence about a lot of things. At the time, best buy had a lot of F series on the wall and was able to compare different models and sizes face to face with the same content simultaneously. One comparison I looked at was 75" Sonys both 850f & 900f (in that size the 850f had an IPS panel while the better one had a VA panel. And guess what, the TV with the VA panel looked better at any angle you could stand at. Makes no sense why people would choose IPS TVs at all. And if you have to view at extreme angles, then unfortunately it's OLED. And seeing 75" next to 85", I was forced to go with 85". I fell in love with the contrast and screen uniformity of the 85" 850f and was going to consider getting one but found out that 850g was out and was essentially another copy/paste Sony TV from the previous year, but with added DV to the firmware (they didn't have any of them at stores yet in my area). Costco had a few deals on this particular TV but waited and waited for a deal on one at best buy because I wanted to go the B&M route in case there were any issues with screen uniformity so I could exchange and swap it out (believe that Costco didn't carry those in stores, at least not in my area). Then that best buy open box deal came along earlier this year. Been a happy camper with it since. Only issues I've had with it is ARC cutting out sometimes (think it has more to do with my Onkyo receiver not playing nicely with the Sony TV) but I'm not much of a streamer and have many other devices for that. With this deal, just make sure about the exchange policy in case you get a lemon. You see some posts over on avs about having blotchy screens or whatnot so there always is risk that you'll have to return it. Think the bigger the TV the more issues it can have with screen uniformity. Good luck.

They're supposed to be factory authorized dealers on greentoe. Which one is typically used for Sony TVs is something that people who've done it in the past to chime in on. Maybe if you glance over previous Sony/greentoe threads you can find out.

Thanks. I'm trying to go under 2k for a 120hz 85." May be a better idea to just go up to 2500 or 3k though
I do not think it will make much of a difference either. I have a PC connected to my 85" and I usually just game @1080p because there's very little difference at my seating position (around 13' back). Sure, you can pop in blu-ray and an ultra blu-ray and see a clear difference but that's mostly because of HDR and DV, not pixel count.

So we don't get HDMI 2.1 ports on the X950H, but they are on the X900?

That is correct and I think a big misstep by Sony

Correct, kinda. the X900H is due to receive HDMI 2.1 support via firmware update. But when that will be, only time will tell. Source: https://piunikaweb.com/2020/08/14...tv-update/

All - 950 will not be down much over next month. If you are in market for Sony oled you will see good pricing in 2 weeks. Give me a thumbs up in 2 weeks. Your welcome

why be cryptic? Unless you have news that Sony is drastically going to cut prices on their OLED this is a non story. Their OLED TVs have always held price premiums even over LG.

Please prove me wrong but I don't see the Sony 77inch OLED dropping to the 3k range. If it is going to happen soon I'd gladly wait and see but without proof your post seems rather pointless since you can always wait X amount of time for prices to go down on X.

I would be really interested if true. Can you give us some more info on how you know that the 950 will not drop but oled will significantly drop? I'm not saying you are wrong, but would like to get more info on this

Yep. Super strange, but in the end the lack of 2.1 made no difference since ill be using my C9 for gaming anyway.

An OLED for gaming? Hope you have a decent warranty that covers burn-in. That's the #1 reason I didn't even look into OLED. I had a plasma several years back and I felt that I always had to police it (especially with kids). That, and obviously the price difference. And I know this isn't directed towards you but earlier in the thread someone mentioned going with a 77" OLED rather than a 85" Sony but they're not comparable. There's a huge jump in price from 75" to 85" which is so much more immersive for a home theater experience. Comparing a 75" LCD to a 77" OLED is a much more fair comparison since there's only 2" difference between them, not 8".

I haven't really looked into this much, especially not recently. But I thought folks over at avs were saying that it was a hardware limitation, not software.

Agreed. Seeing an 85" and a 77" next to eachother really tells the story. It took me weeks to come to a decision on sacrificing image quality a bit for overall immersion.

As far as burn in, for me its been a non issue. I've been using a B6 for almost 4 years now, no sign of burn in other than this spot on the bottom right corner from that yellow button on the Youtube interface, and unless im looking for it, its invisible.
