The one time bill credit is what they offer you outright for your phone. The remaining credits is the residual difference (when the offer says up to $650 for your phone) you'll receive the <$650 minus the one time bill credit over 24 months. I had the same type of bill credits applied when I did the iPhone 11 On Us with a 6S trade in earlier this year.

Funny thing is, after 4 weeks of waiting and never seeing any bill credits, I called into to customer service. Found out the rep who helped me at T-Mobile store messed up and didn't apply the promotion code properly. The rep gave me 24 months of bill credits in one payment. Hm, I wonder if I can qualify for this iPhone 12 offer now.

Whoever came up with the requirement of adding a new line for every phone upgrade needs their fingers put through a grinder.
