This or the LG 86" for about $200 more? I know it is currently not only $200 more but often is and I have it sitting in my living room now and am considering returning it in favor of this one:
if HDR brightness wasn't down so much from my already not great MU8000, i'd pick this up for the other room we're looking to upsize. even worse TU8000 this year is worse, HDR brightness is meh and native refresh is down to 60Hz... at least this RU8000 is still 120Hz.
waiting for a good deal on 82'' Q70T on Samsung EPP, or even a X900H if it magically drops near 2000-2200$. Q70T was been 1800-2000$ either on EPP or PoW, Greentoe gave me an offer of 2399$ for the X900H... i'll hold out, not really in a rush

i'm ok with taking a hit for size, as i did for my Samsung MU8000... but the LG is really low on the scale, i'd get this if it's your price range or save another 300-400$ and see if the Q70T drops again (if you have EPP or PoW).

If you don't need the wide viewing angles of the LG, the Samsung is much higher rated. From RTINGS: The Samsung RU8000 is much better than the LG UN8500, but they have different panel types. The Samsung has a VA panel, resulting in deep blacks. It also gets brighter, displays a wide color gamut for HDR content, has a quicker response time, and VRR support. However, the LG has an IPS panel with wide viewing angles, and it supports 4k @ 120Hz. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c.../784/10585

Please expect this deal to end today since the 65" only ran for one day as well.

Looks like this one is significantly better, however your TV is likely a VA panel, so it may be a bit better.

the LG gets terrible ratings. So if TV size if your thing, LG. But if you want a better picture rating it looks like this Samsung would be best.
