This should still work but apologies if they changed it:
As with all Home Depot online combo deals you can do the following usually:
1) Add the battery kit and the tool you want to your cart.
2) Set the item you want to Store Pickup (the store must have stock!)
3) Set the item you don't want to Ship to home
4) Place Order
5) Immediately cancel order (has to be done within 45 minutes of placing)
The Ship to Home portion of the order will be cancelled, and since a Store Pickup order cannot be canceled you will pay the reduced price and have to pick up that tool in person at the store.
I use this trick all the time for Milwaukee deals, so I hope this helps folks out here. Keep in mind that if a local store has 0 stock of the item you want this wont work. So they could set local stock to 0 to prevent this from happening.
You can likely do this in reverse and ship the item you want to home and call the store to cancel the pickup, but I have never done it this way.
You can also just buy both and return the one you don't want because they should be itemized with the sale price.

I don't think it's a HACK as much as it is wrong.
Edit: I wasn't trying to be all uppity. In my experience on SD, I have always seen bashing of people trying to "game the system".
I definitely remember seeing in the dewalt threads where some people would ask about returning the batteries and keeping the tool and they get bashed.
I'm not worried about HD going under. Just seems hypocritical compared to what I've seen previously on the forum.
I do think this is a good deal financially.
