For those asking I would pass on this one it's just too small unless you only plan on owning a few rifles. I have a 36 gun Cannon and it's over packed, Remember scopes take up room. If you are looking for something just to keep the kids out get a cheap gun metal cabinet(I use one for storing ammo) for under $100 and save for a nicer safe for the future.
New to the hobby. Would you know where would I look for a cheap gun metal cabinet about this same size?

Like a tent, cut the capacity in half. This will realistically hold 6 long guns. (Plus a bunch of pistols up top)

It's not a impenetrable vault, but it will keep people who shouldn't be in there out. for the price, it's absolutely superb. I've had the 10 gun model for over 5 years, never had an issue.

Lol, so many peele chiming in with no first hand knowledge. I have this safe and have 8-10 pistol cases in it, a few thousand rounds of ammo, copious mags and a few lowers. Not to mention a substantial knife collection. It's a good deal. If you don't have a safe get this and don't listen to the naysayers. If a thief wants what u have, they're probably just put a gun to your head and have you open it. As for fires, when was the last time you've had one. Excellent starter safe, plenty of room.

ugh... Seem like a good "starter safe..."

Any safe experts can chime in?
I've owned this safe for over a year and have been very happy with it. I have 3 ARs, a shotgun and 5 handguns stored in it along with some documents on the top shelf. It's pretty well at max capacity so if you have more items to store than that, you would want to look for something bigger. I threw a few reusable dehumidifiers in it and it's been great for my small collection! I would definitely recommend it.

Spend the extra cash get a bigger one and a better fire rating. I got a 6x4 Cannon with a 3 hour fire rating...you're paying for peace of mind. I got 30 plus guns and 40k plus rds in there with some room yet...

Spend the extra money and find one with a S&G lock. This is the big box stores version made in China, they do have some that are made in TX and come with a proper lock.

It's a good price for what it is.

Any safe with less than 1/4" of steel isn't going to provide much in the way of theft resistance against a serious criminal. Of course, that will probably put you over $1000.

Whatever you do, be sure to have it bolted to a concrete floor. Otherwise it's super easy to knock over and pry open or simply carry the whole thing off.

Also bolt to floor with opening closest to the wall. Helps prevent prying.

Good to know. I have an 11 and a 4 year old, so everything at be locked up at all times. Currently just using hard sided, locking cases for shotguns and AR, and a regular fire safe for pistols.
Yeah don't do that. That's how I lost my first AR to a burglar 25 years ago. This "safe" (really just an RSC and maybe not even that) will do just perfect for you. For those who are concerned about the loss of the shelf, what some have done is to cut out a relief so those long barrels can poke out throught he back of the shelf. sometimes the shelf already has that cut from the factory. you never want to put anything real heavy on that shelf anyway.

my recommendation for the top shelf is to put your documents that you want to grab in a hurry - and make sure it is in some kind of easy to grab box or zippered bag. pistols, you can hang on the door. if there are no pistol storage stuff on the door you can make it yourself.

alternatively there's a nice pistol rack you can put on that top shelf and there is enough room under that same rack that you can slide that package of documents.

for a "bedside" gun I use a GunVault SpeedVault.

i have a smaller one next to my bed that is fingerprint activated - for kids no access, and my quick one. practiced a bunch, super fast and safe.

i do need a larger one for others though. this one seems good for me, but i'll wait for BF and roll the dice

Wait, there will be better deals out there. Also remember this will realistically only hold about 6 guns
6 long guns with scopes if you are lucky. Between that and a subpar fire rating i would shop around some.
