Do not buy Sonos products. It is necessary to send the company a message that while limited support for old products is acceptable, orphaning them from new ones is not. If you buy a new Sonos today it will NOT work with your existing Sonos system that you may have sunk thousands into. Stay away from proprietary systems that will, sooner or later, screw you over
Yeah I'd understand if they decided to make cheap, low-end variants of their products and decided to exclude those from certain features in their ecosystem. But none of their products are cheap. They're an enthusiast brand whose primary selling point is their ecosystem.

This. Please apply same logic to most electronics. Avoid cloud control crap as much as possible.

We have to take control back. I really realy don't like the direction tech went since circa 2010.

Had no idea these were Bluetooth. I've always had issues with my WiFi not being close enough to connect with the other Sonos

I get the sentiment and anger but Sonos has addressed the original feedback and their compromise is reasonable IMO. I have a gen 1 Play 5 from 2010 and what they have done is made it work with existing features but it won't get any more updates or new features moving forward and if you combine it with newer Sonos models the new ones will also be stuck to the old feature set and software. For combined h/w, s/w products I think this is a pretty reasonable compromise especially after several years of support and release of the original product. My bigger problem with Sonos is that their products are currently way overpriced and lack in features compared to other smart speakers.
