You simply must tick a tickbox that the education discounts / deals apply to you / you agree with Apple T&Cs on the Edu store. I had no issue doing so.

*** Edit... that is for the Pro, and not the Air.
Thx
Also, what's with moving the goalposts anyway? These are Apple's ENTRY-LEVEL machines. The only argument anti-Apple people have is that they're not as fast as $500 CPUs that eat up over 200W. I have an i9-9900k custom built machine and a server with a 3700X. I don't expect the M1 to beat those in raw computational power, but I've seen how much power the i9 eats up during benchmarks and how large of a cooler I had to buy to prevent it from throttling. If the M1 is anything to go by, then Apple's release of Apple Silicon Mac Pros and higher end machines will be very interesting. I'm betting a lot of anti-Apple people will get real quiet.
