Just like the title says.

JBL Studio 570 for $198. I believe this is the cheapest ever (by $2) for a new set with free shipping.

I didn't order a pair. I'm waiting for a deal on the Studio 530s myself.

P.S. I just want to make clear that this is for a single speaker, not a pair.

Guy parrots the same thing in nearly every thread about the studio line. He has a real issue with this lineup and JBL as a whole for some reason. There are many, many satisfied owners of this lineup, and they measure well despite the spec. Lots of independent reviews and measurements can be found to confirm this.

It's a great lineup, though these are not a common choice. Most would stick with the 530 knowing they will use a sub, or move to the 580/590 possibly without. These occupy an odd middle ground as towers with small woofers, but the price is decent compared to the over/under models. If you look at them like 530s plus the cost of good stands, they are priced right. 580/590 cost is much higher.
I'm glad you have an opinion. Fortunately there are free returns until Jan 31 so people can try them and decide for themselves.
I'm a classically trained musician. On top of that I grew up listening to rock & roll. Two far ends of the musical spectrum, to say the least. I know how music should sound and what "good" sound reproduction is. Some of that is easily measurable, some of it is perceptive aka psychoacoustics. These JBL 570's sound clear, accurate, not muddy at all. I watch movies and listen to music on them and they handle both fine. Most people who rave about pricey speakers suffer from "marketing placebo effect" -- that spending more money on something must mean it's better.

note how the specs are +/- 6dB to make it appear like they perform better. i have listened to these and found them to be lacking in low end output and low overall accuracy.
In not these, what would you recommend?

Excellent speakers at this sale price, same goes for the 580 and 590. The tweeter is what really makes these shine. The Studio "5" series use a compression tweeter with a true waveguide engineered by JBL not just a horn like Klipsch. The JBL's sound even better if you remove the grill and install the bottom plastic part of the waveguide. I have the 590's and the only thing that I don't like is that there is no dedicated midrange driver so it's missing some detail in vocals, especially female vocals but does sound a little better if you remove the grill and install the bottom part of the waveguide. Btw... this Studio "5" series used to be the bottom of the line of JBL's flagship Synergy series but they're not listed on that page anymore. Fwiw, I've had alot of speakers over the years, I'd like to listen to Tekton Double Impact or Moab speakers and that might be endgame for me.

Ha I noticed the same, his buddy superman something should be here any minute saying the same thing. They are constantly downplaying these for no reason.

I have a set of the 530 along with many other speakers, jbl and otherwise. These are a very good lineup for the money, of course there's better and of course everyone's use case and setup will have an effect, but all around these are great speakers that won't be bested without dropping a lot more cash. For the majority of people shopping Slickdeals, these will be great for their home use

I personally tried these out directly comparing them side by side with with a set of PSB towers, The Sony core speakers, and the much more expensive Klipsch RP5000F.
I ended up keeping these JBL studio 570 speakers and returning all of the rest. They sound great and while the Klipsch might have been marginally better I did not feel they were worth the 50% increase even on sale.

if you want bigger sound and more bass you will need a bigger speaker but if you're looking for a compact tower this is the best you're going to get at this price especially.

When I visited AVS and asked about these speakers before deciding to try them out, I was told to "buy them and don't look back". After owning them now for a little while, I have to agree.

Picked up a pair of these when they were on sale a few weeks ago to pair with a 520C and a sub. Very happy, especially at this price point. I'm using them in an open floorplan living room with a vaulted ceiling and they handle the large space better than I would have expected.

I replaced my Studio 530s with these and I couldn't be happier (with a 400W ELAC sub, in a medium sized living room, strictly vinyl, Yamaha Natural sound amp.)

The 570 seems to be identical to the 530 with a 2nd woofer. They have similar top end clarity and definition, but the 570 has a more defined low end. Not bass drums, but bass lines. The 530s sell for $300, it is worth spending the extra $100 for a pair of these.

Of course, I can't bring myself to sell the 530s, so my other living room is getting an upgrade and the ELAC debuts are going to have to find a new home.

One word: Magnepan LRS, if you can find them in stock or are willing to wait. Ohh..and you have a powerful amp (at least 150w/channel at 8 ohm).
