R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

Was going to sign up for the Auto Pay for $5 discount but it only applies to $40/mo plans; I downgraded mine to $30.

3 out 4 phobio devices have come with damaged display now. I sent them new phones, still in original plastic. I am losing money on this shit, sigh.
I'm so sorry. Do you mind giving a photo of the damage screen they gave you? Did you try to argue with evidence or anything? Or are you getting the phone back to figure another way? I recorded videos of the phone when I was preparing it to show conditions if needed, but I hope they are not screwing me over.

Got my last 2 in today. Fun while it lasted. I should have done more and also need to figure out how to trade these in or what to do with them.

How on earth they'll do it. I don't even recorded anything 🤦🏻 ♂️..what if they're damaged in shipping? Who is responsible for that?

Unfortunately, we're responsible for damage during shipping. We need to package it well enough to get it to them in pristine condition. The boxes Phobio sends do a good job of this *assuming* the boxes aren't crushed in someway by FedEx during transport or by Phobio after they receive them. I would probably file a claim with FedEx if that's possible.

If they're sending them back to you, I hope you kept a copy of the IMEI or serial number of the phones so you can verify they actually sent the right phones back to you (or didn't reduce your value based on someone else's phone).

Hopefully you'll find some solution. Hope Phobio not playing any games for *Cricket* phones. Fingers crossed I sent 2 phones last week and they delivered on Monday since then no update. I sent 2 yesterday and 2 more today.

Is phobio the company that handles apple trade-in or a separate company. I'm thinking of doing the trade-in at the Apple store. I feel that would be safer since they give you a gift card right away.

That's definitely more safer and quicker, if Apple stores near by you are allowing walk-in trade ins..

The IMEI should not be an issue, I have the cricket receipts and SIM cards so it would be pretty easy to find out.

I'm confused by your choice of words here. Are you saying you sent them new phones and they said they arrived damaged? Or they sent them back to you with damaged displays?

I always wonder where they get the lists of port numbers in huge quantity. I wonder if it is because of the darkweb on tor with sellers with hacked lists of millions of accounts and pins ready to go for a cheap price. The buyers dump these on eBay or wherever to recoup their investment and make a nice profit.

I sent them new phones with plastic in it. I just removed it from cricket box, activated the phones, put them in phobio boxes and shipped them. They are saying the phones have LCD damage which is a load of shit imo.
