R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

Cricket 7 days return policy, just return it this is not a good deal at all.

The protection plan is a scam, yes you can remove it, call cricket and have them remove it and credit you back and give you some extra credit for all the wasted time.
Thanks a lot for this reply man. I did call Cricket and they refunded the amount. It was truly a scam. Damn those girls at the store, man. They lied to my face.

Actually all the listings violate ebay's electronic policies. If you spend some time to report, they will all be removed.
Just like all the referral posts in this thread? Gimme a break. LMAO

Any updates on your unlock?
I received an email that it was unlocked but it didn't work. Emailed support and after a few hours they verified it was indeed locked back by Cricket, so was unsuccessful. They refunded my money back!

Sadly have to use Rsim and wait 6 months for the true unlock.

Someone has a long post about how to fix an rsim. I could have sworn it was added to the wiki. Guess I was wrong.

Both of mine worked but after inserting many times the phone showed "no sim". To fix this I put the rsim in the tray and the sim I wanted to use on top. Then flipped it upside down and lightly pushed on each contact with my finger nail while holding the sim in from the other side.

I never had to go to settings. The menu just popped up.
Could you please provide link to buy rsim compatable to Iphone Se. I have tried in ebay to get rsim which is compatable to Iphone SE 2020 but no success

Once it is unlocked it will stay unlocked. I don't believe that Cricket locked it again. Glad you got your money back.

In many states, such as CA you pay Tax on full price. It is just the way Cricket structured the Promotion at the store level to lower the price using promos instead of just lowering the price. I just don't know why stores do it this way. It's not beneficial to the consumer, but it must be for the Businesses doing it.
I actually went through OH's state tax law after Stef33 mentioned it and it was clearly mentioned that the businesses can charge tax on the final sale amount after removing all the discounts being offered. I contacted Cricket about it and the rep had no clue about it. At one point he said what happens in store is not Cricket's responsibility. Then he mentioned that it's Cricket policy to charge tax on the maximum selling price and not on the discounted price which is constant all across, both online and store. When I countered him with it being not true for online, he then apologized. Took a lot of time to discuss with someone and then came back and told, I indeed can see that the tax should not be charged on full price and the store is doing the wrong thing. He opened a case stating that a team member will contact me and will go ahead from there.

Thanks to Stef33, this is indeed illegal in majority of states, if not all. Companies cannot charge taxes on full maximum selling price but Cricket is doing it. I have raised a complaint with my state's sales tax department too. Let's see if anyone gets back with anything concrete.

I think it has something to do with the fact that they themselves are offering the discount so they can't charge tax on the before coupon price. If the coupon was like a manufacturers coupon then they could tax the entire amount. This may not be true in all states.

Agree. I read that too that if manufacturer is providing coupon then these businesses can charge tax on full amount. Don't think in Cricket's case though, the discount is provided by Apple.

How about when you shop at Costco & Amazon ? Do you get charge tax on Pre-Instant coupon prices? We get taxed on full price before the Instant coupon kicks in.
