Life hack: Put this Hulu subscription on a Discover card. Don't use said Discover card for anything else. They'll forgive the $1.99 charge each and every month since it's below their $2 threshold. Profit!

Edit: If your state adds sales tax to Hulu (mine doesn't), this post is not for you.
I went to my Hulu account to cancel my $1.99 subscription deal from last year a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of a new deal. I used the reason to expensive and it offered me a free month and another year at $1.99 monthly so obviously I took that deal. It did not show up in my account so I called and confirmed that I will indeed get the same price for another year and it will show up once the current subscription expires.
I got in on this two years ago when it was $0.99/mo for 12 months. My account got hacked and the hacker added every premium package to my account. Hulu support was able to remove the premium packages, but they refused to give me the $0.99/mo deal again – not a very good experience.

Same, I also got charged $5.99 after doing the $1.99 cancel promo. Should've done the BF deal instead. Oh well, cancelled.

Same issue. Just cancelled, really annoying the way they refused to honor their own offer.

Yeah, same here. they gave my current account a free month, then same 1.99 msg.. but on future dues, shows 5.99. To save ya all time, i chatted with them and they said that there is a bug in the system that offered the 1.99 deal to those who do not qualify and suggested to just create a new account to take advantage of the Black Friday 1.99 deal.. I was going to use my account from last year anyways..

So check your future dues, if it shows 1.99, you are the lucky ones.. otherwise, sign up with a new e-mail and remember to canx the old account before the free month ends.
I had the same experience.. but I got charged 5.99 after the free month.. it promised I would only get charged 1.99 a month for another year when I did the cancellation online.. Calling now to cancel it unless they offer me another year for 1.99.. Not paying for this crap 5.99 a month.

UPDATE: It only took 45 minutes on the line due to large call volume but I canceled service and got refunded 5.99.. the CS rep was very nice but they couldn't honor the offer because the deal has already expired.. I hardly watch Hulu but I would have stayed for 1.99 a month.

I only came around now to pay my cards when I saw the same $5.99 charge from Dec when I had accepted the cancellation promo of $1.99 in November. I did the online chat with them fully expecting to cancel and ask for a $5.99 refund. But the rep finally came back after 10 mins and asked my permission to put back the $1.99 promo on my a/c till Nov 21. I accepted and I do see it showing in my account now. I did not ask to refund my $5.99 (she would probably have had to go back for another 10 mins).

They were not willing to adjust the price for me through chat. Just kept saying it was a technical issue and my only option was to pay the $5.99 or cancel. I even had a screenshot of the offer.

I just noticed I got hit with the $5.99 last month. They gave me a refund and a free month but couldn't honor the $1.99 price. Going to cancel after my free month.

Don't forget to cancel if you're hoping to get the Black Friday deal again this year (assuming they repeat the deal).

I just cancelled before it renews again and I was hoping for a retention offer but no dice.

Hulu announced that their prices are increasing on October 8, 2021. Should those of us with this $2 Slickdeal expect an increase?

Just wrote to ECR, we'll see. Chances of me paying $6.99 for this about the same as them seeing god

Thank you for doing that. I will be eager to see the reply.
By the way, who or what is "ECR"? (I Googled, but no joy.) Thanks!

Executive Customer Relations. They said we're grandfathered, so the rate will remain till the end of the term, and then the new rate takes effect

It's more than just cancel. You have to cancel and then delete your account which takes several steps. Canceling alone will not qualify you for the black Friday deal. I also believe that you have to use a different credit card each time.
