These are non-4k and do not come with a remote. The new Google chromecast TV is best option at $50

Depends. This can only do 1080p and doesn't have a remote with user interface. You'd need another device (i.e. smartphone or computer) to control your media. I would not get this personally because the 4K Firestick and 4K capable Roku stick are roughly only $10 more and offer better performance. The main benefit of this vs those two options is the option to stream videos from a Chrome browser to your TV, which is nice for when you're streaming something online on your computer but want to watch it on your TV without having to deal with cables. If that's something you really want then this is a cool device for that, but if you're patient, I'd suggest waiting to see if the Chromecast with Google TV goes on sale. It can stream 4K and comes with a remote and Android OS, so you can download a lot of different apps.

Is this a schill post with PR? Shipping is $10 so discount becomes mute if you decide to buy from the Google store. None of the other store mentions have the correct pricing BB, Target, Walmart. And none of the comments have links but they are made within minutes of this post going up.

It's an even better deal than you're saying. On the product page, it references the new price for the standard plan, which affects new users, which is $13.99 a month, so they are valuing that at $83.94. However, if you are an existing member, I don't think the price increase has gone into effect yet, so that plan is still $12.99. Regardless of how they do it, if you are already a Netflix subscriber, this is an amazing deal, which puts that Chromecast at around $6, maybe as high as $12 if they don't simply credit your account with $83.94.


Edit:
Shipping is free for over $35. I don't know how people are seeing $10 shipping unless they are changing the default shipping options. I was charged tax, but no shipping.

Oops, I forgot that this thread started about these $18 things, not the deal with Chromecast + Google TV + Netflix for $90 that someone in this thread mentioned.

The shipping really kills this deal. I tried to get Amazon to price match Best Buy but they claimed "no one from Amazon is authorized to do that". I swear I've seen people post on SD before about Amazon price matching. I suspect that's more about changing the price for all customers instead of one time adjustments for existing orders.

I bought the 2nd gen back in 2017 and I haven't used it once. I thought it'd turn into a smart TV but all it really did was screen mirror my phone, cast my photos or watch youtube.

CCwGTV should be going down to $39.99 on Black Friday, I think the device itself even at its current price is a much better deal. I got mine last week and I'd argue it's the new gold standard. You can stream content up to 4K at 60fps (if your TV allows it) and I personally use it to stream games from my PC to my TV often. It works amazingly with Moonlight/Gamestream (Steamlink ha issues Valve's working on TBD) with barely any latency on my Wi-Fi and the graphics are great. You can sideload apk's too if you want to do more and even run some emulators natively on the device (you can expand storage with a USB hub, it only has 4GB internal). And lastly, it's a chromecast. It basically beats Fire TV in every category and does what this chromecast can do and alot more. Since the next best thing is three times the price (Nvidia Shield TV) the dongle has really surprised me with it's capabilities and bright future so far.

I have a smart tv without browser (it does have apps like YouTube, Netflix, etc). I want to add a browser to it and sometimes cast content on my iPad (such as Zoom) to the TV. Should I buy chromecast only or Chromecast+google tv bundle?
