I think it's the best option so far for a 4800H and a RTX 2060.

Easily upgradeable with 16GB or 32 GB of RAM for $50 or $100 respectively, and a 1TB or 2TB SSD for $100 or $200 respectively.

Basically where it's been all along.. if you upgrade it's over $1k laptop.. might as well wait for the 30 series (if a primary reason to buy is gaming).. mfg/retail play too many games on pricing. Some can be accounted for in tariffs and the predatory pandemic pricing, but not all..

Yeah, this is not accurate at all. The 1660ti version has been hovering around $1,000-$1,150 all year. I didn't even know the 2060 version was officially out.

This is an incredible steal.

The 4800H + RTX 2060 combo was never found for this price except for the infamous ASUS TUF A15 with the bad thermals problem though.

Sure if you don't want to change anything, this won't do, but if like me you look for a laptop with 32GB and 2TB of SSD (or even 1TB), these options are at outrageous prices usually, because the retailers gouge you for anything above 8-16GB RAM and 256-512GB SSD.
Here you have the smallest amount possible: 8GB RAM+256GB SSD, so you know you haven't lost money if like me you know you are going to upgrade. For instance any laptops with 16GB+512GB SSD are useless in that case, and usually more expensive.

In addition to that, the HP OMEN are apparently decently well built.

No to mention that the 3070 and 3080 laptops will probably be close to 2K+ when they are released so yeah not even a close comparison.

What will be interesting to see are the 3060 variants but the problem is that those laptops will still be 1400-1600 dollars. And availability on all 3XXX chips that will be dicey until 2021. Who knows when we will actually see them out on laptops.

Basically it would cost $100 more for 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM upgrade than the current deal on Bestbuy has the Ryzen7/1660Ti for $950. Both deals are pretty close. Dont know if you lose warranty on this by putting in an SDD.I would assume putting in 2060 in same chassis would make it run hotter and louder and probably reduce the battery life by an hour or so

You can actually upgrade to 64 GB of RAM. I have the 1660ti version of this laptop.

This is a superb deal for the price. Thanks to OP for posting this one. $899 itself is a cheap price for a RTX 2060 Laptop, even with a Quad Core i5 but this one having a 8 Core CPU, 144 Hz 100% sRGB panel display and RTX 2060....superb deal.

This is actually a fantastic price for the specs. Kinda surprising coming from HP directly.

One thing to note is it's a heavy beast at nearly 5.5lbs. Not something I'd like to carry around every day.

I agree that the deal you mentionned is pretty good too (I almost bought it!) but the 2060 is a bit more powerful than the 1660, (and this shows even more if you play at higher resolutions like WQHD or 4K on an external monitor), so for some it's a dealbreaker.
So for 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD, the deals could be seen as close, but if you want 32 GB RAM (or more) and 2TB SSD (or more, the 4TB SSD exist now), then this one is better for sure since you start $50 cheaper, and you have the RTX 2060.

This is tough... I picked up the $949 BB deal and think I'll probably keep it. The 2060 adds RTX and 10-20% ish performance over my 1660ti, right? So in a AAA game I could have like 60fps on 1660ti vs 66-70 on 2060? I think I'll hold onto mine, it is great. Good deal though!
