We currently have Verizon and are thinking about switching to T-mobile, but don't want bill credit deals in case we hate it and want to change carriers. The best deal for us was the buy one get $540 off the second phone, which invokes no trade in. We can currently get ~$275 per iPhone XR that we have from decluttr. We would also get $100 cash card per new line, so ~$740 from Costco and ~$550 from selling our two phones separately.

All said and done it would be ~$525 for a 128gb 12pro and 128gb 12 after tax.
Swappa has XR's going for higher, $400ish if in mint condition.

It says buy one get one up to $540 off. If you buy two iPhone 12s adding a line does it qualify for $540 off? $540 - is it paid all by MasterCard or any bill credits?

Does costco automatically offer 10% off all iPhone devices? So if you get the iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB, 1199 retail, so you get 10% off, so that's $120 off. Say you trade in an iPhone 7+, that's $270 off. Total discount is $390. Do they charge sales tax on that net price or the gross price of $1200? Tmobile trade for existing customers without adding a line right now is $300 off (if you use the iPhone 7+). So this seems like a much better deal.

Instead of monthly credits you would get a 1 time bill credit, that is a pain. I am seriously considering selling my XR and XS on swappa instead of sending it in. Might fetch me a little extra without the hastle

The value of iPhone 8 Plus trade in is $374. You will get the phone's value as bill credit which is $100+ , which is quoted to you in the trade in agreement , and the rest of $374 is via master card texted to you in a couple of months.

I would check the coverage map to see how the signal strength is in your area, it's pretty accurate. I also have Verizon and want to switch out since they're playing games with my account. I've been with them for over 20 years (my parents were on Ameritech) and half of my family left my Verizon account for T-Mobile when they started traveling internationally as T-Mobile offered free unlimited international data vs Verizon charged $10/day. Now the service where I live has gotten better for T-Mobile and I have no reasons to stay on Verizon other than some dumb one way notion of loyalty. T-Mobile gave half of my family free lines, unlimited 5g data and have by far the best trade in offers for new phones. Also with their merger with sprint, they gain a large cdma network for the rural areas. If the signal strength is good in your area, I highly doubt you'll hate them.

How long until you can upgrade? I'm wondering if you can get the BYOD$200 and a month or two later, trade in through tmobile direct 500 for iPhone 12 pro.
I can upgrade at any time. That was going to be my backup plan, BYOD now and wait for another deal on the 12 in a month or two.

I'm planning on going tomorrow or Thursday. I did see where they extended the $540 deal until the 3rd, and hopefully they keep extending it because they don't have the stock to support the deal.

You need to keep service for 90 days, at least that's what I was told at the kiosk at Costco due to Costco's 90 day return policy.

We had two lines and it was $45/line for the cheapest plan with auto bill pay.

Agreed. We had Sprint before and it was horrible in some rural areas, but fine around where we lived. I didn't want a deal that was bill credits incase we dislike T-Mobile for some reason. I also have a Verizon work phone that we can take if we know we are going places that has spotty T-Mobile service.

200 shopcard is BYOD and not for iPhone buy
Actually take a look at the picture of details posted and it looks like trade in is stockable with $100 shop card, NOT stackable with Buy one get off $540 second though.

Is the $100 add a line promo dead?
Can we combine that with the byod $200?
