So I started researching Pelotons for my wife yesterday, and have major issue spending that much. Came upon this Echelon company in another SD thread. See that they have an EX3 that has no screen, and then an EX5 that has a big Peloton-size screen but that is like $1600 or something. Costco online has that EX5 for delivery and there are a fair number of negative reviews.

Someone had mentioned this EX4 in store Costco so I went to my store today and they had 6 on the floor. Nothing online I can find about it. Has a 10 inch "HD" screen so certainly smaller than an EX5, but better than EX3 which has none. I don't know the stats on flywheel but I can say that the box was surprisingly freakin heavy (says 120 pounds) so something in there must be "solid" haha.

I nabbed it just to have it, in case these start flying off the shelves once I post this haha. It says it comes with 1 yr of the app membership, which right there would be worth $480 I think. For me, much better to spend a thou and see if my wife really uses this, and can always do Peloton later or just stick with Echelon. We might find out that the 1yr app membership is hobbled in some way (like doesn't include live classes or something) but will see. I just nabbed the item and will store it till Xmas and then figure it out. If anyone else gets better info they can share. Benefit of this unit beyond the price is that I actually have it in hand, vs some vaporware delivery slot for Echelon EX5 or Peloton....

Yes good points, and that was one of my initial questions re: value....a 10 inch "HD Monitor" is worth not much given I already have 2 10" ipads around the house that could be used. Now if the bluetooth connection for the stats from the bike to the iPad is wonky, but somehow it always works with the installed monitor, that could be a consideration I guess. Not sure if that is true or just some internet complaining I read.

So how much is an EX3 bike....

EDIT - I just googled and it seems an EX3 is listed at $999 everywhere.....so that DOES make this EX4 a great value! I had in my mind that the EX3 was like $500 or something, but I believe that is the Walmart "Sport" which is a lower quality "machine" yes? So that makes me feel better....certainly no sense in paying $999 for an EX3 without a screen or without a free year of app if you can get the EX4 package for same price. I think if I could get EX3 for $500-600 then maybe makes sense to then use Peloton app for $13 a month or something
oh, yea, no doubt this is pretty good deal. So for me, I paid $864.25 out the door, taxes included and one month membership through Echelon website. With the Costco, if I bought the bike there, I'm guessing it will be around $1,100 out the door w taxes. I am Executive member so I get 3% back which brings the bike back down to $1,070. So for $1,070, its a great deal because I can't even get there w what I paid which is why I needed to weigh whether or not the subscription was worth $399 to justify if I should cancel the order from Echelon. If I add everything up starting with the bike, add in the year subscription and a cheap tablet... 864+399+100 (cheap lenovo tablet), I'm at around $1,300. Getting the bike for $999 plus taxes is pretty darn good and Costco has really provided a nice deal IMO.

All that said, I am keeping the bike from Echelon and walking away spending $864 because I will be using the Peloton app and will not pay $399 for the subscription.

Had it 3 days. No set up or connection issues. App works great. 6203 on demand classes. Plus live stuff.

For $1000 - bike and 1 year unlimited. That allows me to have entire family set up a profile and track usage.

If I don't like the Echelon classes after the year I figure I can use the touchscreen to use Echelon freestyle mode (which still tracks all I do) - pay nothing and watch youtube classes / netflix or something else for free via another tablet.

Best I've seen for EX-3 was cyber monday $750 -- add a cheap tablet and pay $13 /month for 1 user on Peloton and you're still over $1000...

This is a great deal for us! Thank you Hogan773!

AWESOME to hear, thanks

Makes me excited that come Christmas Day I will have a winner present. My wife will then figure out that she cant compete with our next door neighbor Peloton, and then I will come unhinged haha

I'm looking forward to this and hoping it does get used. I will certainly do some classes myself.

Yes that is the one. You must also be in Chicago north suburbs I guess haha.

I assume other stores have them. The picture I posted was from that Reddit thread I saw yesterday and was from somewhere else in USA, so at least 2 stores out there have them.,.....
They have them in AZ

Kid 4 foot 10 ish got on and seemed a decent appropriate fit at all the lowest settings. Have to be a bit flexible getting on and off but once on - good to go..

I will wait until the Prime bike comes out and the free workouts as part of the prime membership. Bike should be around $499

The Echelon Sport Connect WAS the prime bike. Same $499. But Echelon took heat because it was easily inferred it was a cobranding effort - and it wasn't. That is why the bike disappeared from Amazon. Rumor is it will be back without "Prime" in the name.

Yeah I have seen these articles months back. I think Amazon will release their own workout bike because of the success they have seen from Peloton and they will include workout classes as part of prime membership. I think the sweet spot price point wise is $499 to sell a boat load.

Spotted in the Chicago Lincoln Park store! Snagging one today. Seems like it's a good deal with the 1yr subscription and you have one less screen to connect later to use with the Peleton digital membership route.
