Furthermore you can do it more than once. I know because I have already. As long as you let the GPU (Gamers Pass Ultimate) expire then you can buy up three years of Live again and convert it all again for $1.
Also for the original person asking. Max it out to three years first before you convert. I just did this earlier this year (for the second time as I mentioned) and I have GPU until April 2023.
Also if you buy Xbox Live cards, when you redeem turn on recurring billing and it will give you an extra month. Just turn it off and repeat. You can get a full year just by buying three 3 month cards and doing the recurring bill trick each time. It's actually cheaper than buying a 12 month card if you find them when they are on sale. Earlier in the year when I did it was when Dollar General were selling the 3 month cards at $15 ($10 off the normal $25). I maxed out the three years and converted to GPU w/ the recurring billing trick for like $90 total.
Just wait for the sales/deals and you can do it super cheap.

Terms say per KFR account and not per xbox account.
If that's true then they changed it from how it worked last year. I think I got it at least three months in one acct worth of buying pop tarts

You can convert all 12 months to game pass for 12 dollars. You only get the 1$ a month though once so you can add up to 3 years before Converting
I said account. Either way it's going to be hard to stock up like the guy I quoted said he was going to do.
