This is a solid deal. Don't be frightened by all the comments on every desktop deal from people that need this component or that component upgraded because they are planning to map the human genome on a $500 desktop. Spoiler alert - They won't.
700W? Seriously, it is not like you are going to install a 750+ dollar graphics board in a machine like this imo. You can get away with 450-500 W with a low power 1660 TI. Less if you drop down to a 1050 Ti. If you want to run high end gaming at max res, then one should not be buying something like this imo and should look to someone like Dell, MSI or IBuyPower for pre-builts for gaming.

My 2 cents.
I was able to pick this up at my local Staples store

here are some pictures

storage: hfm256gdjtni-82a0a https://www.skhynix.com/datasheet..._popup.jsp

Power: 180w

Let me know if I can answer any questions

Does anyone know if it might be possible to use a usb-c to hdmi adapter to output 4k 60hz on this thing. As I understand it, the USB might have an alternate mode, but I can't get confirmation. And if so, would the audio pass through ok?
I was referring to something like this..

After reading through the HP customer support forums, I found out that it definitely would've been shown in the specs if it had the alt mode, which it doesn't. Apparently It would state thunderbolt or displayport capable after "usb-c" in the specs. I did learn a lot more about alt mode, and will take it into consideration in future computer purchases. I went over some computers that are known to have it, and others that don't. it would've been obvious if it had the Alt Mode display enabled type c port. It seems like only the more expensive, premium computers have it at this time.
Unfortunately, I will probably be returning this one. I mainly bought it for the processor so that I could play 4K downloaded files from my PC onto my television. I would definitely prefer 60hz, and I really didn't plan on putting a card in it..

After further research, I'm probably going to keep this PC. I purchased this for watching 4K movie files on my TV through HDMI. No gaming. Apparently the recommended frame rate for watching most movies is 24fps, so I realized the 60 Hz capability really isn't that important to me after all..

Nice, I think I'm going to keep mine too. Hard deal to pass up. If I ever need to, I can throw in a low wattage card like a 1030 and get 4k@60hz.

I was going to hold off, but I wound up ordering a Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 for it. I went with the GDDR5 version of the card, which is supposed to have noticeably better performance than the GDDR4 version. They say it does draw slightly more power though.
I was a little hesitant at first due to the recommended 300w minimum, until I saw that that HP puts this exact card in other builds of this pc with the same 180w power supply.. I think that was mentioned somewhere else in this thread though...

Yes, I found this one with a GT 1030 GDDR5, with similar specs, motherboard & 180w PSU:

Are you planning on running a 4K monitor with the new card at all? Either way let us know how it goes.

How are you liking the pc so far? Is it pretty fast with the ssd? I debated on getting one but my 4+ year old Dell is doing just fine (at least that's what I keep telling myself), lol.

I would want to run a 4k monitor on this but at 60hz so I guess a graphics card would be required.

Thanks,

-Guru

Does anyone by chance have a screenshot at this price?
My order was messed up and Staples is now saying it was never available at this price.

I get a "power surge on the USB port. Unknown USB Device needs more power than the port can supply" error when I plug in a Iphone 12 in the front USB-C port. I did a clean Win10 install and updated all drivers already. Anyone know how to resolve?

Thanks again to Spider210 for the screenshot, that helped move me along with Staples.

They are now at least acknowledging it is possible to buy it at the price. They said they needed the two coupon codes that were applied to get the price down. Once I provide those they are willing to look then up and apply them.

Does anyone by chance know what the coupon codes were, I didn't see them in the thread.

Thanks!

As far as I know, it was just on sale for that price. I don't remember any coupon codes being applied at checkout; unless they were automatically applied, and I just didn't notice..
