I'll bite but I do loath supporting either H&R or TurboTax. They spend millions lobbying Politicians to keep the tax code at a level of complexity that keeps them relevant.
Weren't we supposed to get tax reform so we could do our taxes on a 3x5 card?

I've been a TurboTax user for 10+ years. Last year I tried H&R Block because it is usually less expensive, and I thought I'd give it a try. Trying to be as impartial and open minded as possible, I found it more difficult to use, so much so that I ended up buying TurboTax and completing my taxes with it. I'm glad there are alternatives and competition for TurboTax, and I'm sure it is a good fit for others. However, in my experience, TurboTax is the better option.

They claimed that premium version is for self-employed 1099. But last year I ordered the deluxe + state it can finish my job too. I really wonder if that premium version can save more for me or just bringing in more forms and make me confused.

Yeah, I found the same. I'd say the deluxe is more than enough for most folks.

I am primarily a TurboTax user. Last year took a chance on H&R Block and was pleasantly surprised. For me TurboTax still has an ever so slight edge in their layout but H&R Block was not hard to use either. AND at half the price of TurboTax...H&R Block is definitely a no-brainer for me.

In a thread from last year I read between physical vs digital of deluxe version, one has access to more forms or schedules than the other. Can anybody confirm that? Or do they both now offer same amount of forms?
