You got to wait 7 months to use your coupon?

"Get a coupon for $50 off a $100 qualifying purchase when you are approved for a debit or credit REDcard in-stores and at Target.com, valid from August 2 – August 15"
Copied from RedCard benefits & program rules

"RedCard $50 offer: Get a coupon for $50 off a $100+ qualifying purchase when you are approved for a debit or credit RedCard in-stores and at Target.com between 1/17/21-2/20/21. The coupon will be mailed to approved cardholders with their RedCard and will be valid through 3/27."
Umm probably best to keep the shady actions to yourself.

Meh, the straight $40 off offer was better.

I never get why this is a good deal when other ccs give so much bonus for signup. i guess if you know you'll shop at target a lot to be worth using the 5% back.
5% off any gift card target carries (apple included) is worth the debit at least.

Why is a $50 bonus good for burning a credit card slot? I don't get it.

I wondered the same thing but assume it's:

1) if you get the debit version, there shouldn't be a credit check

2) if you regularly shop at Target, the 5% off every purchase and other perks likely make this a worthwhile card to have, so why not get it while the bonus is high

Many non store cards are better deals for signing up.

I agree. I got the Red credit card in a similar deal. The exclusions made it hard for me to use the coupon. You can get stuff like toilet paper, but wasn't exactly a great deal. There are a lot of items that don't ship free so I end up getting those are Amazon instead. If you get the 10% off Target gift card deal every year around Black Friday, you get a higher percent off. I haven't found a way to choose how much of the gift card to use in the app so I'm either using the red card for something small or my gift cards cover the balance and I lose free shipping/5%. It is good for prepaid wireless card deals though if someone is on Cricket like we are. Overall I would not get it again, but since I have it I do use it every now and then.
Next year buy small increments of gift cards. That way you can use gift cards and just a small amount on red card and still get free shipping. Instead of 3 $100 cards, buy 15 $20 cards. I got a combination of 10, 20, and $25 cards this past year.

I applied for debit in November when the $40 offer was posted but the card arrived without the coupon. Anybody know how long after cancelling I can reapply?

Guys, if I apply for the debit card, does that mean I'll have to sign up with the bank that backs the card then deposit money into that account ahead to use?
Asking because I don't know how it works.
I have BECU debit card that links to my becu checking account and the only time I use it is for shopping at WinCo once a month.
Thank you.
Edit: NVM. I found the answer on the "which card is right for you" section.
The other question I have is that the 2 cards don't have any cash back, right?

Yes, once online, then once in store. They take the coupon in store so do that last. This could change at any time but has been solid a while now if you look back at other posts
FWIW, I scanned my coupon at self-checkout and it took off the $40 so nobody took it (after using the $40 off on an online order). Also curious if we'd be able to double-dip on this one too.

Dumb question, but if I get the debit card, and want the 5% off, do I have to use the debit card for payment upon checkout?
Can I use a target gift card and still get the 5% off? or another credit card?
Does the whole transaction have to be on the debit card? or just some?
