How necessary is the rinsing system that goes along with the Arc 5? I've been using the Braun 7 series and love the system that washes it, and disinfect it. Can the Arc 5 be just rinsed with water? Will it speed up the blade dullness this way?

Thanks for posting that. I currently have the ES-LV61, and purchased the ES-LV67 (the one in this post) when it was last on sale at Best Buy. I ended up returning it for the following reasons:
  • As you said, the auto sensing can't be disabled
  • The lock mechanism (for the head) didn't work well
  • The display was very primitive (no shave time, no exact percentage of battery remaining)
I'm now waiting for a deal on the ES-LV65. Even though it's an older model, it's closer to what I'm used to.

Also, for replacement foil and blades, you may want to consider the ES9036 instead of the ES9032: LINK [amazon.com]

The blades are the same, but the foils are different: LINK [shavercheck.com]
Good tip on the replacement blades and model background details, thanks. I see the ES9036 has the new gold comfort bar that should be an improvement.

Just fyi for those who have coarse hair, this website recommends it over the Braun 9 for a closer shave.

Rinse with water. Close it back up; add a dap of soap and turn it on for several seconds and rinse again. Clean!

A wet shave would make the blades last longer. I replace them yearly.

how long did it take for you to need replacement blades.
I don't mind spending $99 for this, but i dont think i want to spend $70 every year on blades
I find myself replacing the shaver itself with BF deals. So I won't recommend buying a flagship shaver.

This year; I bought new blades. In the previous years; I replaced the shaver since it made more sense.

Great shaver. Once you get used to the size it's pretty amazing

I have the older LV65 model and have used it for over a year now to shave my head every other day. I like that it minimizes bumps and is easy to clean. I don't like the price of replacement heads, but I have yet to replace mine.

This review of the ES-LV67 mentions some of the differences with the ES-LV65: LINK [shavercheck.com]

The comments at the bottom of the review are useful to read as well.

Is it worth getting the Asurion 3 year warranty for this? its only $10.99 on amazon and feel its worth getting if the foils or blades get damaged and I can get this replaced..

I also have the LA63 is this much better? The LA63 I have its very good however I feel it hurts quite a bit when I shave after I use a razor then switch back to electric (Maybe this is normal)? Any advice will help. Thanks!

I thought arc5 is a version. How many versions does arc5 model have? Should not have to be this version naming confusion

Has anyone had success using the supplemental warranty options (2 Years of Geek Squad Protection or 3 Years of Asurion Personal Care Protection) to replace dull/worn out blades? I know someone mentioned before that Best Buy replaced it for them after two years.
