Anyone know how to get free for year? I am first time user for apple tv and just bought iPhone 12 pro max few weeks ago.
But if you do some research, Apple
Tv plus is as close to lossless Atmos as possible with their format, much different than Disney or Netflix
1st there is no "somewhat lossless Atmos", it either is or isn't.
This includes Apple, there is no "lossless Atmos but still compressed" with them.
Actually "Nothing is true lossless unless it's blue ray disc" isn't true either.
People burn disc 1:1 and use media servers to get "lossless Atmos" also.
I agree with you that Apple 4k tv produces better quality than Netflix or Disney but it's not a huge difference and nowhere near "lossless" especially on the audio side.
"Passthrough works with content from Apple and with Infuse. If you aren't using either of those you can't passthrough DTS, Atmos, etc."
When you say "and with" do you mean together or "or" ?
If you are already getting "Atmos" from Apple TV+, what would be the advantage of having Shield passthrough or Infuse(depending on 1st question)?

If you run the Apple TV or any streamer through the TV first, and Arc into the Sound bar or Receiver , you will get compressed Dolby Digital + atmos but if your Tv has E Arc Port than you will be able to get direct versions of what the streamer device like Apple TV sends
