  • Advanced Built-in Flashlight with White and Red LEDs: Select the white LED setting on the built-in flashlight to light your way during evening activities, unexpected emergencies or power outages.Battery Life (alkaline)- up to 23 hours. Battery Life (rechargable NiMH)- up to 9 hours
  • 22 Channels Each with 121 Privacy Codes: With 22 channels and 121 privacy codes, totaling 2,662 combinations, it's easy to find an available channel ; Low battery alert present to remind you when batteries are running low
  • Know the Weather In Advance: Keep updated with real-time weather conditions by turning on one of 11 weather channels or initiating weather alerts. NOAA radio service may not be available in all areas.
  • Compatible with Any Radio: You can communicate with other FRS/GMRS radios regardless of brand by being on the same channel and privacy codes.
Lowest price ever on the T600 looks like it was $58 back in 2019, but that pricing stuck around like a fart in the wind.

Only difference I could find between the 2 is that T605 adds the storage case and a car charger. Considering they're micro USB charging, the car charger isn't that useful if you already have a bunch lying around. Sounds like the regular T600 comes with 2 x "whistle belt clips", according to item info: "2x T600 Hâ‚‚0 Radios, 2x Whistle Belt Clips, 1x Y Cable Charging Adapter with Dual Micro-USB Connectors, 2x NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 1x User Guide, 1x Accessory Guide".

edit: eligible with the Discover cash back bonus offer (https://slickdeals.net/f/14812999-ymmv-amazon-10-off-50-when-paying-with-discover-cashback-bonus).
I literally only found this because I was searching for stuff to get me free same day shipping on a $20 item in my cart that I really needed for the weekend. Being able to use that Discover bonus offer was a nice bonus for me, plus it all gets here tonight. =)

T800 has better battery life and mobile app. IPx4 rating.

T600 / 605 has IP67 rating (this was important for us - wanted these for our camping / outdoors trips and hikes), more rugged design, and additional red LED in the flashlight. Less battery life compared to T800, and no mobile app.

I think the T800 is actually $10 less MSRP. According to REI.com.

Always wondered when buying something like this or some offbrand walkie talkie - how likely it would be when using it that there'd be some grumpy guy telling me to get off the voice channel. Do these things ever overlap with those CB radios or any radio enthusiast type things?

We have a set of off brand radios (3pk for 35ish) they take 4 AAA each. 2 miles radius. We accidentally tuned into other people's channels.

Not sure if that's the way it is for these kind of radios or if good brands perform better.

You set the codes on each channel, it stops you hearing the same channel unless they have the exact codes. They can hear you, you just can't hear them.

35 miles with 2 watts and a rubber duckie... Imagine Tesla advertising a 300 mile range car as 3,500 miles with a straight face. That's what Motorola is doing with these things. Then we frontpage it.

Yeah 35 miles is a ridiculous claim for a FRS/GMRS radio. 2-4 miles depending on terrain, sure. 6 miles, maybe. Any farther, say a prayer first.

There was post not long time ago that the claims were over the top, because of the wattage, anyone knows more?

As for the T800, many reviews are saying that it won't go beyond 1 mile range.

They go pretty far when you're hovering about a 1/2 mile above the desert.

Good price on the T800s, I thought those were interesting bc of their ability to text message.

Around $70, I think the Midland GXT1000VP4 is probably the best radio in their price range, even comparing most of these Motorolas when on sale.

Have you seen what they call "full self driving" with a straight face? Also, Tesla's range claims are the most exaggerated of all of the EVs.

CB radio is 11 meter, or around 27MHz. These are UHF, and sit around 460MHz. Zero chance of overlap.

But, any GMRS radio requires an easy-to-get FCC license that is good for your whole immediate family. FRS radios do not, as they're limited to 2w on some channels and .5w on others.

I didn't look too see which these were.

Zero radio communication in this band is "private". You can use "privacy codes", but that's just inducing a tone that opens the squelch.

No amount of money will solve the issue. Licensed radio bands will, but that's expensive and stuck to a geographic area.

I mean, if both radios were on airplanes.... Maybe? Smilie
