I actually purchased this unit a few days ago because the description says it is ionization and photoelectric but that does not seem to be correct as the unit only says it is ionization. Also bought another Kidde (less expensive) one at the same time and it's the same thing as far as the description saying it has both types of detection but the unit label itself saying it is only ionization. I'm not sure why it's like that but wanted to point it out in case others are looking to purchase it based on the two types of sensors.

I am fairly confident this is Ionization only for smoke and electrochemical sensor to CO, Amazon listing has some wrong information

Yes, you are correct. Sorry if my post wasn't clear. Both this model and the $10ish model # i9050 both say on Amazon that they're ionization and photoelectric but they are NOT both. I had opened both and got ready to put the batteries in them when I took a second look at their boxes, which say they are only ionization type detectors. The Amazon descriptions may be incorrect for more than just these 2 models so buyers should cross reference with Kidde's site, just as you did.
