This might not be real African black soap. Since there isn't a photo of the soap it is going to be a gamble. If it is solid black and smooth then it's just a marketing job and not the real thing. The real soap is spotted with lots of shades of browns/blacks/creams colors due to the processs of making it over fires. The actual process of making the soap varies depending on the region in Africa it was made in.

looking at the ingredients this is actually classified as a drug and not a soap. See "Drug Facts" on the second image. there is a very specific criteria about what is actually soap in the usa. While this is black soap this isn't real African black soap.
I asked my African American friend about this, yes, he was born in Nigeria not in US and he said he bought this long back and its crap nothing like African soap.

I have to ask... what's special about this soap in particular? Legitimately curious. Is the moisturizing that good?
African black soap contains ashes of plantain skins, cocoa pod powder, and palm oil. The ash and powder act as a mild abrasive. The soap uses oils to wash the skin and "dirt". It tend not to use things like glycerin's to remove all of the skins oils.

<---African here.
This soap is not the real deal. It's not bad soap, but it's not true African black soap.
Which one is it then, with natural ingredients?

I use Dudu Osun.

We know it's not African soap from Africa, that stuff probably wouldn't even pass FDA guidelines. It's like Asian people trying to tell me what's not "real" Asian food, we're not in Asia are we? Come on now.

If it's an actual soap, it's regulated by the CPSC, not the FDA. FDA regulates cosmetics. If you don't believe that, here's the FDA's page.

Frequently Asked Questions on Soap | FDA

Actual African Black Soap is sold in the US. The FDA wouldn't be overseeing the actual soap anyway.

No need for an artificial fragrance in any of the cosmetics or soaps.

People here will argue about anything. It's an ongoing laboratory experiment in Dunning-Kruger pathology. The bonus this time is uber-cringe virtue signaling.

This is pleasant stuff to use, as are all Shea Moisture products. It smells wonderful, lathers nicely and is gentle enough to use on your face. Many black soaps are way too harsh for that.
