Thanks! Just ordered and I can re-reconfirm.... (See attached)
Tello is slowly migrating people to T-mobile, so you are still on Sprint until you request the new SIM card (which is free to existing customers). Sprint service had become unusable for us, so we switched to T-mobile as soon as it was available.

When you get to the end of your 6 months, you can manually renew a day early to roll your unused data. You don't want to do it during the 6 month plan because it will mess up the StackSocial plan. And when manually renewing, you can pay for your 7th month using Tello Dollars earned when you created your account. You can also downgrade to a lower level plan if you don't want unlimited talk and text.
If you already have a GSM SIM, you can port immediately when setting up your Tello account.

If you have to order the SIM (which will initially show up as $9.99, but end up as free in the last step), you cannot order the port at the time you set up the Tello account. After the SIM card arrives, you follow Tello's prompts to activate. Then, you can click on "Port In" and bring in your existing line.

I just looked at at an old thread in October? Apparently Tello will waive the 9.99 sim fee when you sign up using the stack social code.

Can anyone confirm?
Yep, I just got this deal last week for a few dollars more. When I set up my account on Tello, the card was added to the cart for 9.99 and then it was credited with everything else. It took about 5 days to arrive. Took only a few minutes to get up and running (porting was instant). I live in Florida and the service has been the same (people say my voice sounds better) as I was getting with Google. I also just added $20 to "Pay as You Go" so that I will not be throttle if I go over 2GB. It says on the page in the app, "If you have a "pay as you go" balance, you will not get throttled down to 2g speeds. This way when the kids take my phone to watch Tic Tocs I won't care.

Although the original promo code no longer seems valid, SMS10 is good for maybe $5 off.
Everything else about the offer still seems to be functioning, but Stack Social indicates the offer will end in a few days.

Question ... anyone know how long can one safely wait before activating the service after receiving the SIM card. Need to juggle shutting down and porting number elsewhere. Thank you.

use "FB15OFF" code to get 15% ($7.5) off. Tested the redeemed code and it works. I plan to redeem it in 20 days before Mint Mobile expires.

Your pay as you go balance will expire and be forfeited after 90 days. No warning.

Tello will screw you when they can. They're the Spirit Airlines of the phone companies.
