very good drive. hynix is top notch brand.
crazy in benchmarks but not noticeable in real life. my pc has the P31 nvme as boot and the S31 sata as a 2nd drive with games /apps on both. i couldnt tell you which drive is running which app in a blind test
Damn...thought for a second this was the PCIe NVMe version for $83!

My SK Hynix caused me backpains. Returned for MX500 and my back feels better.

...and even then its a matter of seconds, unless you do it all day long.

YMMV but I bought a 500gb crucial ssd for not much more than this a few weeks ago. Incept date for Hynix is a '19, the crucial is a '17...

Most people dont transfer large files regularly and the few times even I had to, it didnt make a life changing difference. We are talking seconds of a difference for even a blue-ray sized file between 500MB/s and 2000MB/s. Yes, it will add up if you are moving hundreds of terabytes every day for work but in that case you would be looking at PCIE gen4 at the minimum.

The reason being you just look at the brand, not on the chip that is backing up the brand.

I think something most people don't realize is that depending on your workflow, a few noticeable gaps in waiting can really be detrimental to productivity, especially as things get faster as a whole.

Remember the stone ages when someone would turn on a computer, and there would be enough time to go to the bathroom or make a cup of tea before the login screen was loaded? And by the time the computer was ready for you, you have to remember why you turned it on in the first place?

Same thing happens now, except replace bathroom/tea breaks with a quick alt-tab to email/social media/any fast consumption product.

It isn't obvious, but having faster hardware will minimize those potential distractions - time lost/gained is only a small part of the equation.

Not saying that paying extreme premiums for faster stuff is worth it; just noting that when it comes to speed, the benefits aren't because it takes less time, but because it creates less interruptions.

Probably not paying attention enough. They make ram chips for major OEM. But recently they are in the process to acquire intel NAND (SSD) business.

You will not notice a difference between this and, whatever the "best" SATA ssd is, in anything other than a benchmark. The differences are tiny. In fact, there is relatively little perceptible difference between a SATA ssd such as this and a high end NVME 3 or 4 drive in anything but specific workloads, like the mythical 'large file' transfer.

if you are moving 100s of TBs a day on these drives, wouldn't you wear them out in a few days? i.e. if one is moving more than 1-2TBs a day on drives in this class (which at SATA speeds is only a total of 1+ hour of data moving in total) one probably chose the wrong drive for their workload.

or am my thoughts wrong?

I will say that there was a difference that I could tell because I was looking for a reason to get a refund on the Evo because this was cheaper. The Evo was just all around snappier. The Evo also gave me better battery life on my laptop. You can look at test on the web and you'll see that there could be a few second difference between ssds in opening apps and games. It might have been a few milliseconds when web browsing but you could just tell the difference. Or just pay a few dollars more and get the MX500 if you don't wanna splurge on the Evo.

You noticed a difference of a few milliseconds in opening web pages when the variations of just network traffic to the same site with the same system has more variation than that. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Can't figure out you are one of those brand shills or just trolling. In either case, not a good look dude. Stop making a fool of yourself in everybody's eyes.
