I have 5 lines using the $7 plan (1gb , 100 min, unlimited text) using the referral dollars and have no issue with them.

Tello changed the terms of my initial agreement last year and without any advance notice closed both my lines and stole my credit balance.

Have had Tello for years, but am considering a switch after dealing with the current Houston power outages. Not only was my power out, but Tello's service provided no data or reception. I couldn't make or receive calls or text messages. Meanwhile, people with other carriers in the surrounding area still had the ability to communicate.

Edit: I was incorrect about this. People in the surrounding area with carriers such as T-Mobile and AT&T also lost service. Staying with Tello, as they are pretty solid and much less expensive than the alternatives.

That's over. GSM only now. We will say prayers for all those cheap Ringplus phones with Sprint sims in them that have no place to go. I'm looking at you MonkeyBiz.
I flipped most of the cheap CDMA phones to Lifeline users. Probably broke even since I was still out a lot on R+ top offs. I have been shopping unlocked phones ever since. Tello has been a much better service, at least till now, expecting some problem, some of them user error.

Currently trying to get my new tmobile unlocked $70 Moto G7 Plus activated, Getting errors on new GSM, since I'm also swapping phones. It's just a backup phone but it does have a nice camera.

I am still using my old Nexus 6 and Moto Z3 Play, both unlocked. I may have to put the new GSM sim in the Z3 since that is already on the account. And swap phones later.

I liked WINDOWS phones, was surprised MS gave up on it. I still have the Lumia too, nice little clock and alarm on wifi. No going back to small screens, 6" minimum now and USB C all the way. I may even use my LG V40 thinq on Tello GSM for all those wireless charger stands here.

The Tello GSM ones are blue and Tello branded. I think the Sprint ones had no Tello branding.

If I get it for unlimited text messages, is there any way I can check my text messages from abroad? Do you think the app can help me read my incoming text messages?

Tello doesn't include tax like HelloMobile which uses same network.

Any way to just buy a gsm sim that's compatible with tello not from them directly This way u can just open an account in a tax free state without them knowing your real address. Or if not can u change your service area ?

I don't know about address but I'd try not to introduce too many problems. The sims they send are not generic, very Tello specific brand.

I'm not having much luck but I'm new to GSM phones and tricks. Sometimes it takes awhile for "wholesale" sims to register. I'm not getting much help from support so I'll sleep on it for now. No fees or taxes on Data only in WA but YMMV
