Belk to file bankruptcy. Department stores to stay open, with no layoffs or closures. JANUARY 26, 2021 03:11 PM, UPDATED FEBRUARY 03, 2021 01:53 PM
Belk will continue "normal operations" as it goes through bankruptcy, according to a news release from Sycamore[prnewswire.com]. Pending objections, New York-based Sycamore expects Belk to exit bankruptcy by the end of February.
Belk is cheap outlet frequently promoted by Slickdeals. Seems like a lull recently, but this might signal another uptick.

Not sure if this is a promoted post or not but I think this is a good deal. They usually have $100 gift card for $80 once every month or two. Last time I bought the discounted gift card and was able to order some good clothes for kids. Their prices were comparable or even cheaper than Macy's/JCPENNY for similar clothes and the discounted gift card sweetened the deal even more. I also bought some Delsey 2-piece luggage from them and it was the cheapest price you can find anywhere. They are not very popular probably because they are located in limited number of states.

Bankruptcy can mean multiple things. Sometimes it includes closing the doors forever but for Belk, "chapter 11 bankruptcy" means they are just restructuring their debt.
