I've had a few tracfone lines for a few months and I had 1 major problem a couple months ago. One sim card just quit working. Maybe I got lucky, but customer service solved the problem with little effort on my part (took them over an hour before the new sim was working -- lucky I had a spare). Problem free since then. I use this for my "bicycle phone" -- a cheap phone that I can mount on my handlebars and not worry about it breaking. For rock bottom service costs, I recommend tracfone. With their new rewards program (ask somebody for a referral), you can get LOTS of free service with a new account. I have over 3 years free service on two lines from referrals (including some "self referrals" when Target got carried away with a promotion and I got service for no net out-of-pocket cost).

It took less than 10 minutes to activate, with porting my number over. I had to call Tech support once and was on hold for less than 2 minutes. Using their rewards program, Using a free code readily found on redit, I now have 8 gig of free data(or minutes). So I have free service for $107(with tax) for a whole year, with a great phone. No brainer to me
Tracfone has always had a bad reputation. They single handledly gave MVNO services a bad name over a decade ago. Newer (better) companies such as Mint have since come along and repaired the MVNO image.
There's a lot of disinformation in these SD threads about TracFone. People claim it's "easy" to unlock their phones. That's total BS. The FCC had to sue TracFone because they refused to unlock people's phones. A settlement was reached between the company and the government in 2020 that finally requires TracFone to allow customers of Lifeline products to unlock their devices. But I still read plenty of complaints from non-Lifeline customers that it's difficult or impossible to get TracFone devices unlocked.

Straight talk
total wireless
I have this exact model on Totalwireless..(verizon)
its fine for a daily driver. you might miss NFC, can be abit laggy setting up android auto for first time. took about 30s vs 15s for my pixel 4a 5g.
Battery for DAYS, not fragile put a case on it and live life its a 100$ phone not a 900$ model you have to be paranoid over.
There are pros and cons but they have been covered.. in the end its unbelievably good in the under $200 phone range.

Sent you a private message on it.
If you actually find Google Fi tolerable and stay around until you've used up the $49 credit as well, then the phone is effectively free.
If you don't stick around to use up the $49 credit, does it stay on your account, even if you stop paying/cancel the line?
TIA!!
