Waiting on 8k, no format for it yet, but next holiday season bet you can get one for close to this price. About average price for this one.
8K is stupid because, like you said, there's no content for it. You're paying a premium to watch literally everything (besides a few YouTube videos) with an upscaler. And an upscaled image will always look inferior to one at native resolution despite what the marketing might say. Essentially, you're going to be paying extra to watch everything at worse quality.

Agreed. There isn't enough 4k content to begin with.

Any personal opinions on how this TV compare to the Vizio PQX?

I know that rtings ranks the Vizio higher,
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...eshold=0.1

But I've always had the impression that Sony's handle motion better and when I looked at the two at Costco, it seemed to me that the Sony's image had a depth that I did not see on the Vizio. Maybe just calibration or the source so I was wondering if anyone else had a personal impression?

Also, I imagine that the Sony drop in price will force Vizio to follow suit, does that seem reasonable?

Looking long term though, buying anything this year if its not stupid cheap is a waste. Side by side same cable channel the 8k looks better. imo
I doubt it unless you mean a lower end TV with worse contrast and color accuracy up against an 8K TV with better contrast and color accuracy. There's no way around it... upscaling an image to 8K is guaranteed to make it look worse than native resolution.

Picked up the 65" when it was $850. So far pretty impressed with how it performs. Interface is also much faster than previous models.

$850? Lowest I've seen it is $950 at Costco during BF. That's a crazy deal.

AAFES. Was $849 with no tax, or payments for a year with Star, plus I think I got something like $40 in rewards.

Was just offered $1699 on urlhasbeenblocked for this tv. I'm assuming when the new model comes out it'll go even lower.

4k came out when 2010 and we barely have enough content to 100 percent justify buying a 4k tv. Your 8k tv will die before 8k content is out.

I haven't seen the 90ch at that price. You sure yet wasn't the 65" or the 800/850 Sony?

Edit, sorry I was confused. I see you were referring to the 65".
