Tip: If you ever drop a clay on the ground through it straight in the trash. They will pick up little bits of grit and rock and really mess up your finish.
IMO, clay bar is better than this. I have this and I spent a few minutes on an area and didn't notice results. Got the clay bar out and in not time blemishes were gone. Been using clay bay for 15-20 years, so that's what I would recommend. Also, you want to use clay bar with a detail spray or something with lubricant, not water. And, if you drop it on the ground, either throw it out or cut a big chunk out of it to get rid of the clay that picked up dirt and rocks. I think I've used Mothers and Meguiars, they seem very similar.
This is on clearance at Walmart if you're lucky enough to find it. I got 2 for $3 each.

I've only ever used detail spray but a friend uses soapy water. I do it so infrequently (maybe once a year) I just buy the bottle of spray.

Takes me 8 hours to full detail with a wash, interior detail, and clay and wax my truck with a topper. To much work lol...

Claying a car will cause some marring of the paint. So really you should do a correction after clay for any color and a wash.

Now IMO you don't need to do a correction after clay for lighter colors, but you should definitely give it a wash.

As others have said if you drop the clay throw it away. This isn't clay though is a rubber tool that you can drop and wash clean.

This tool is 4x faster than traditional clay and about 90% as effective. I personally use Nanoskin.

make sure you get an authentic product. (check the amazon listing photos for ways to tell) i received a fake one from Amazon; the only time (that i know of) that i received a fake product shipped and sold from amazon.

The ultra clay towel from the rag company is my new go to. It has been proven to cause the least amount of damage.

Just blast some ONR on a panel, and use this. It's so fast and easy, and the design wicks dirt into the pores to keep them away from the grabbing surface, which is why most clay and synthetic clay causes marring.

It's pricey at 32 bucks, but I had extremely satisfying and quick results with it. And I always wash a car after claying, I don't like the idea of just drying it. A nice simple wash to guarantee a contaminant free surface is worth the 10 minutes, and by that point you don't have to be terribly careful because the paint is now clean

I've used this to detail my truck with great results. I washed first, then clay bar with dawn/water spray, rinse and then polish and seal.

As often as you would fold a traditional clay bar, spray the synthetic clay bar to remove any sediment it picked off your vehicle surface. Works great.
