I have this trimmer and I'm not impressed much with its power. I love all my other DeWalt cordless tools, but this trimmer lacks the power for regular lawn duty. I use my 60v flex volt battery and it seems to help a bit but still this is an item I'd pass on.

Actually, this is the straight shaft DCST920B, whereas the prior (that I did buy as a gift for $119 w/battery) is the fold up model DCST922.... Personally, I prefer this one that I have been using for 3 seasons with no issues, but the prior fold up model deal is beneficial to those that transport in a smaller vehicle. Either would benefit from a shoulder strap for any long term usage.

The 5 amp battery is worth $50, so this is about the same deal as the prior at $129.

Something is not right, because for grass, this brushless trimmer has all the power anyone could ask for. The only thing I don't like is that the guard could be wider.

Now, if you are trying to cut heavy growth, or woody stemmed plants, you will need something different.... like the gas Stihl we use with the plastic blades and other attachments.

I love mine, but wish I'd gotten the 14 inch now. lol I only paid $50 bare tool so it was a great deal! Works great in tall grass too. I leave my heavy gas Stihl trimmer hanging up. So much lighter!

I have this model. Works fine, plenty of power. Motor died after 18 mos but it was covered under the 3 year warranty and is a pretty painless process assuming you have a dewalt service center nearby

I have this and I go through long and thick grass with ease. I love this trimmer man and it is the best trimmer purchase I have made after going through a black and decker electric and a craftsman 2 cycle crappy trimmer.

The responses I've read for the newer (foldable) model suggest that this model, with black head, has issues with the head/spool. Can anyone confirm this?
