So I have two of these.... they get used every day... and I am very happy with my purchase. BUT I can not recommend this tablet anymore.
This issues is VALUE....
Alldocube iPlay 40 UNISOC T618 Octa Core 8GB RAM 128GB ROM 4G LTE 10.4 Inch 2K Screen Android 10 Tablet... Can be had for $199 if you google it. This is a slightly better tablet the the Samsung Tab A7... faster CPU, same screen, 8GB or RAM, 128 GB Hard drive... the issue is the battery only last 6.9 hours (6 hours 55 minutes) and it is not a fast charger and no finger print scanner. The price was once $165.00 but you can no longer find it at this price. Right now this is the best bang for the buck of any tablet on the market IMHO. This tablet does not have Level L1 Vine Support (no netflix or Prime or disney, etc.. in HD quality)
In addition, Mi Pad 5 has been announced and may be released in a few days... price is suppose to be over $600 us dollars... but it is speculated.
6 months ago... there was not much available but the Chinese Tablets that have come out (iplay 40) and the upcoming mi pad 5 will shake up the market.

The reason many people buy this Fire tablet is BECAUSE it can play decent videos. Like those Lenovo tabs which also can't play in HD.....no point in buying any of them.

I don't get my content from Netflix or online streaming services... so it plays my videos just as good.
But yes... if you are buying a tablet to watch streaming services on... it is best to get one that does support it's HD content.
64GB version now $125. I just finished setting up trade-ins for all my old HD8's and HD7's that I bought for $20 or less years ago. Now I have $100 in gift cards to use towards this.
Can these run most apps or am I safer sticking with an ipad or galaxy tab?
once you install/sideload the Google Play Store, you can run most apps. I think there are issues with a handful of apps but not sure what they are.
If you buy this tablet, or any Fire tablet, I highly recommend googling for the XDA Fire Toolbox app. You install it on a windows PC and connect the tablet to it to disable features you don't need (to speed up the tablet) and you can also easily install the Google Play Store with it. I also used it to swap out the dismal Fire Launcher for the much cleaner Nova Launcher. Once you tweak it enough, it looks similar to an android tablet than a bloated Fire tablet.
I have the previous gen but I don't think this is much better other than slightly better cpu. I think the main issue is the 2gb ram. It really slows down to a crawl when you have more than a few apps or browser tabs running. These days I think we need around 4gb ram for typical use...even more for power users.

Thanks! I am looking for something for my 4 year old to watch youtube and for some coding/educational apps I had purchased that don't work on her old Ipad Air 1st gen.
