This is not worth it. Surface devices have lasted years for me, but 8gb ram is small by today's standards. Let alone what you'll need 3-4 years from now.

This is definitely worth it in comparison to 4GB models. However, 8GB ram is not yet the new 4GB, which is to say there are plenty of use cases for which 8GB systems are and will remain functional (basic productivity and light browsing).

Any 4GB system sold today (which Microsoft unbelievably still offers in the Surface Go tablet) are definitely poor purchases. In contrast, an 8GB system is functional for a large subset of users. To be clear, 4GB still functions today but you're just accepting a performance hit associated with thrashing virtual memory.

If anything, this deal isn't really a deal at all since this is the everyday pricing if you have a Micro Center nearby: https://www.microcenter.com/produ...--platinum

Good luck!
