I hate when they use terms like "industrial style". Usually means "It looks like it's made of metal and wood, but will collapse irreparably if you pile a few pairs of your kids' socks on it".

Anyone have any ideas for a flat surface to lay across these slats? I got all kinds of these types of storage towers and never managed to find something that fits snuggly and is stable enough to be a satisfying surface for display or storage.

Glass works too but, per the other person who responded, plywood might be easier to obtain and cut to fit.

Across? Shelf liner (not contact paper) or plexiglass (get it custom cut at Lowe's if you're not feeling up for it)
In lieu of the slats? Plywood or actual 1x 4's. Unless you want to use metal square tubing.
