Was looking for some renewal codes to bring down the $40 annual Mychoice fee before I realized that UPS MyChoice is now regularly priced at $19.99 annually as of the end of 2020.

If you get a lot of UPS packages sent with their cheap-USPS partnered service, SurePost, the free unlimited (and automatic if you set it in your account) upgrades to UPS ground make this service worth it.

You can turn on the auto-upgrade feature of mychoice premium by drilling down through these menus:
Preferences -> Edit Membership Preferences -> Delivery Options -> UPS SurePost® Package Upgrades

Upgrade to mychoice premium in the app or the website for $19.99 now, no promo codes required. Making this thread for others like me that didn't realize the price had gone down and they don't have to dig for promo codes anymore to keep the service at a reasonable price.

https://www.ups.com/us/en/service...hoice.page

NOTE: This new lower pricing plan doesn't let you opt out of auto renewal in advance, so if you don't want it at the end of your term, you have to remember to cancel it or it will renew you automatically yearly forever.

I've used MyChoice for a few years but of the SurePost packages I receive, only about 50% actually upgrade to Ground. Yes, my automatic upgrade settings were on, but after talking to UPS quite some time ago, not all vendors are guaranteed to have their packages upgraded. One in particular is Old Navy. It's "iffy". With the amount of packages I receive from all courier companies (USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc), UPS only makes up about 30% so it's not worth me paying $20.
This is what I ran into when TMo offered it for free for a few months.

I tried to upgrade 3 SurePost packages and all 3 said "not eligible".

So it's certainly nothing I would pay for.

$19.99 is the everyday price
Pretty sure that was covered in the original post.

This thread is for people that DIDN'T KNOW THAT and may want to buy the service again at this better price.

The UPS thing to buy was their stock two weeks ago. I've made a boodle! Even so, I agree. I don't see what the $20 for this service is getting me that's worth $20.
If you receive a lot of packages and they're sent from scrooges that use Surepost ultra cheap UPS/USPS partnered shipping, The free upgrade from 10 day surepost to ~5 day ground saves you $3-4 per package upgrade charge. Do ~6 upgrades per year and it's paid for. Also, the Premium service has a checkbox so it automatically upgrades ALL surepost for you with no intervention.

Worth it for us and many others. Maybe not for you.

Weird. I never have had any upgrades from surepost that wouldn't work with MyChoice Premium. Maybe it was a specific limitation of the TMobile promotion. Wouldn't be the first time TMo delivered less than expected, won't be the last.

I remember there used to be a link/button to turn it off. I turned auto-renew off years ago and don't see the option to turn it back on (maybe it's buried in one of the settings). But for me, the auto-renewal is definitely off, as it says "Premium membership expires on 12/01/2022" as opposed to "Premium membership renews on 12/01/2022". If you can't find it, mabye you can reach out have them change it? A bit of a PITA if that's the case.
I was able to locate the auto-renew setting under
Home >Profile >Preferences >UPS My Choice® >Edit Membership Preferences
Then open the "Name and Address" drop down, there is a checkbox for "I want UPS to automatically renew my Premium membership."

You can update the address when you move. It worked for me multiple times

I'm late to this thread, but wondering if anyone else has had issues with UPS MyChoice?

I set it up so it would automatically "upgrade" all SurePost packages to Ground.
A package was never upgraded, so I started paying more attention and purposely bought something from Target (they *USUALLY* ship SurePost) - 2nd package also didn't go through. I tried fixing on my end and even tried calling UPS. Nobody cared or knew how to fix.
After that package went to SurePost, I triggered yet ANOTHER package and purposely turned OFF "automatic upgrade" to see if that would help. That did not work either.

Finally escalated to UPS corporate via Better Business Bureau.... They had to refund me, since nobody knew what the heck was going on, and they extended UPS MyChoice another 6 months. Literally took several more packages and me toggling "auto upgrade" off and on before it worked again.

Not sure if I'm just unlucky or if anyone else has seen something similar.....

I get more UPS packages than FedEx, and the My Choice Premium membership has already paid itself off for me with the SurePost upgrades. I often buy from IZOD, whose preferred shipping method is UPS SurePost. Most of the time it works for me; I only had one that did not go through.

One thing is that packages must match the names or nicknames of your household members on your UPS My Choice account. Otherwise the upgrades won't work.

Somehow FedEx Ground does it for free. Plus it is easier to drop it off at a Walgreens than have to deliver it to somewhere it all the way out in the boonies.
You are correct, fedex does do it for free but fedex does not have the cost structure that ups does.
Fedex pay is lower, fedex employees must contribute towards their healthcare coverage while ups employees do not have to contribute towards their healthcare and fedex retirement plans cannot compare to the teamster pension plan
