I have purchased 3 coolers from them a 30qt and tow 65qt. The Trooper 30 was listed as refurbished bit when it showed up at the door was new with tags. Both 65 hard coolers were listed as refurbished and yes they were refurbished. The first one I had to send it back it had a lot of wear and tear, the second one was like new condition and I keept that one. Neither of the 65qt coolers came with any accesories meaning no tray and no bottle opener. Hope this helps in making your desicion.

Bought from this site last August, order on Friday, received on Monday night 45qt cooler. Listed as refurbished but everything was new, came with all the accessories. I've use the cooler for camping 2,3 day trips in Texas heat about 7 different times. There was still plenty of ice in it 5-7 days later after the first day of camping. But gotta pre chill the cooler at least 12 hours before use, always threw in a 20 lb bag of ice the night before and pre chilled all the items going into the cooler. Those blue ice blocks help a lot as well. Highly recommended. Its built like a tank! Looking into buying the trooper 30 for day trips.

Dont listen to this guy JayT5227....
All high end cooler NEED to be pre chilled, even the items going into the cooler, for maximum ice retention. If any space left, top off with more ice. Other than my tent, otterbox 45qt is the most important item in my camping arsenal.

Are all of these made in China? I saw someone mention Made in USA, but wasn't sure if they were talking about another cooler product. On the Woot page for the soft side it says "Imported", but so far that's as much as I can track down.

Man, love the Otterbox. Have the huge 65qt one and works like a charm. Looking for something more portable. Considering this 30qt. Video was great until he dropped "roll Tide!".

As pointed out, Otterbox is made in the USA whereas Yeti has off-shored to China and other places.

The handles preference are subjective-
I hate the (Yeti) rope style handles because the coolers swing when two people carry them, and if you are buying the larger ones, and not using the wheel kits, it takes two. Yeti fans will point out the rigid handles (Otterbox) make it a longer cooler- so that's a consideration.
The problem with this test is only bringing each cooler to 51° before starting the test. All these coolers tell you to pre-cool the cooler, which means for a chest full of ice 32°. The cooler with better insulation will take longer reach maximum coldness and then maintain that for longer. The test should be to let each sit with ice overnight, then dump it out and start new.

I got one of these sometime last year and its great. Its heavy, but very high quality. Injection molded feels way nicer than rotomolded. Ice lasts for quite a while, and its the perfect size for me. Last big trip was 10 days of solo camping, and I refilled food and ice midway through. Worked out great and I was impressed with how it handled the cold. There are also accesories for this thing so I got a cheap Otterbox cutting board that fits inside via ebay. This site listed it as refurbed, but I would have sworn it was brand new. Good deal.

What sold me is the lifetime warranty. Companies only offer this is if they either don't expect to be in business in 5-10 years, or are selling a really well-made product.

I'm usually a Yeti fan but the magslider lids have really pissed me off the way they fall off and get lost (pisspoor design). Then they want to charge you another $10 for a replacement. So I'll be branching out to companies like Otterbox and Rtic.
