Does anyone know if this 4040 was plagued with the same power supply issues a notable number of Epson 4000 and 5040 units had? Can't seem to easily locate the answer googling around. Thank you in advance.

I'd like to upgrade my BenQ ht2050 but all the "better" models are huge and heavy (and/or black). I need the size/weight/white color of my BenQ.

I have a 7 year old 5030ub. How would this compare? I know this offers faux 4k, but it doesn't appear to be as bright, and I'm not sure about contrast ratio.

In a fully light controlled room the contrast difference may be noticeable if you comparted them side by side, but doubt it would be massive. If you have mixed/ambient light you may not even notice the difference. While the pixel shift 4K is not true 4K, it is darn close, especially for the price. HTH!

I am worried about the same thing, and from all of the refurbished Epson 4010 and 5040 posts, I haven't seen any either. So, I am thinking that they actually fixed that problem and that's why no one complained. I am so tempted.

I got mine for a few days now, and I got it all set up. The bulb was brand new with only one hour usage, probably to test the projector. At Dynamic brightness, it is really bright, but the cooling fan was wailing too. I set it up to Natural brightness, and it is still plenty bright, and the fan was barely audible. Going from Optoma HD27E 1080p to (faux) 4k HDR is a huge difference! My kids were all impressed, and that is all that matters. I wish I could have gotten the 5040ub for $500 more, but it wasn't available. Still I am very happy for my own Father's Day gift 😊

No extra bulb. Just remote, batteries, instruction manual and a couple of security cables.

Darn, that would have sold me. A new 4040 comes with a bulb and mount.

Well, brand new is the 4050 for $2500 if you want an extra bulb qnd mount. I can buy an extra bulb for $160. The mount only cost me $40 🙂
